Ask:
I just saw on CNN about a 13 yr old girl that wrote "okay" on her desk, the principle called the police and she was handcuffed to a pole @ the police station for 3 hours. She apparently had never had any documented behavior problems at school before.
Homeschooling is sounding better and better for my girls. I just don't trust them with complete strangers. Hey, I went to school with a few people who are now teachers at some of the local schools. A couple of them were not such nice people, but teaching is thought of as a "good paying job" around here.
Answer:
I would be going off. All the bullying that goes on in schools and someone does this over writing on a desk. Yes it was wrong but they should have just made her stay after school and clean it for goodness sake.
Answer:

Answer:

I agree. I'd be interested in seeing a link that tells the whole story. Yes, I don't think a 13 yr old should be handcuffed to a pole for 3 hours for writing on a desk...but again....think there must be more to the story. Luckily my children are both smart enough and respectful enough to know not to write on a school desk, so I'm not really worried about this.

hope I am doing this correctly!

They really did go too far, but why was she writing on the desk in the first place? Her mother says she should get soft scrub and clean the desk and then go out to play. ..Ummm - how 'bout cleaning the desk and then getting a detention or grounding? Is mommy part of the issue?

The article does mention that the mom said in-house(meaning in-house suspection) and a formal apology letter to principal.
