Seed question

Ask:
I bought some (really cheap!) seeds today for my classroom. We are going to watch green bean and corn seeds germinate. You put them onto a wet paper towel in a baggie. Each day, we'll observe the growth and document it on a data log.

Here's my question. I got too many seed packets. They only cost 10 cents each, so I have no intention of returning them. Can I store the seeds for a year? We're just going to watch them germinate, so I don't care if they grow past that or not. Will they germinate next year?

Thanks in advance to all of you gardeners!
Answer:

I have planted seeds that were over a year old and they still sprouted. I am not sure if that is typical of all seeds though... hpefully someone more experienced would know?
Answer:

I read that they usually will. Store them in a lidded box at room temp. until next year.
Answer:

I keep my old seeds in a covered box in the freezer and haven't had any problems with them germinating the next year...and for several years after. HTH!
