Does your child have allergies?

Ask:
My kids don't really have allergies, life threatening ones anyway. However lately my youngest has been sneezing up a storm. Constant running nose. I'm sure it has to do with spring in the air and all this darn wind!!!
Answer:

I think the make Clartin OTC for children, maybe you could check into that. Poor little guy hope it passes soon!
Answer:

We just got back from the pediatrician for my middle's allergies. We are all having major issues right now with post nasal drip and such. I would start him on Claritin, but if it doesn't help, go to the doctor to see if they can give him Zyrtec or another allergy med. Even slight allergies are no fun!
Answer:

Does my child have allergies?? Oh yes, both of them have allergies! DD seems to fair pretty good, but has had symptoms since her 1st bday. DS started his last fall (shortly before his 1st bday) and they have gotten worse this spring. He has just recovered from his 3rd ear infection in 1.5 months! We are hoping these are from allergies so that we can possibly avoid the whole tubes ordeal! I know some Dr's don't beleive in allergies before 2yrs, but I have 2 kids to prove them wrong. Thankfully, our ped agrees. I'm thinking we might try the blood tests to confirm this, I'm not sure yet. I hate the idea of sticking my little babies.
Answer:

My 11 year old son Dakota did when he was a 1-3 years old.He out grew it.He only had it in the spring time.We did not need medication for it.He sneezed alot.I was always told to watch for little red spots like a rash and if he got them to bring him into the doctors.
Answer:

My ds has allegries and takes meds for them, my dd doesn't have allergies but does have asthma. It's hard in the spring on both of them!
Answer:

My kids have year-round allergies so they take Zyrtec syrup every night. Otherwise they have runny, stuffy noses with sneezing and coughing. I hope your little guy gets to feeling better soon.
Answer:

Both my DD and DS have allergies and have been tested and confirmed positive for the following allergies- DD birch, cottonwood, alder, dust, cats. DS-birch, cottonwood, alder, dogs, garlic, and oats. For the environmental allergies DD takes singuliar and flonase and my DS takes zyrtec and nasonex (for the food allergies we have benadryl and an epi pen, which I hope to never use, we just make sure he doesn't injest garlic or oats).

It is very hard to keep up with the upkeep of allergies. Some of my best suggestions that the allergist gave us is 1. cover all mattresses and boxsprings with dust mite allergy covers also cover all pillows. 2. My kids are not allowed to have stuffed animals 3. Wash all bedding in hot water at least once a week. 4) we have 3 air purifiers that run in our home. 5) I vacume everyday with a vacume that has double hepa filter protection 6) we put solid surface floors in their room (allergist stated that the most important room to be allergy free is the bedroom) 6) leather furniture and no throw pillows. 7) wash any curtains monthly (we now only have hard surface blinds that I can wash with soap and water frequently) By doing these things it has improved the quality of life for both my kids. My DD has not had a sinus infection or pneumonia since implementing all of this and my son is sleeping better and his snoring is getting better.

Sorry so long.... I feel for you and hope you can find what is causing the allergy. We did the skin prick test for both kids. It seemed horrible when they told us about it but, it was very simple, not horrible at all and neither kid even cried. DS was on 16months old the 1st time we tested for environmental and 2 when we had him food tested, DD was 3.

I hope you little one starts feeling better soon.
