A trifecta of motivation

Ask:
We had a large gathering of people here on Saturday and, of course, I wanted the house to look nice. That started me into doing some deep decluttering. It was work that needed to be done and it helps to have a deadline. On top of that, we're planning on moving in the next year so, not only do I need to declutter to move, but I need to declutter so I can get the house into shape so I can sell it. The cosmic forces are coming together to get my behind into gear to declutter and clean.

And it feels so good!

The old saying really is true - the more you declutter the more decluttering you want to do.

Where did all this stuff come from?

What did it for you? What made you say, "This is it. This stuff has to go!"
Answer:

Good for you! I love when I get that motivation to declutter. It's on my list of things to get done today (during my day off), but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do. What a sense of accomplishment when you get a ton of stuff out of the house. Keep it up!
Answer:

When I first started to declutter it was actually after seeing my first episode of Clean Sweep! I just couldn't believe how much better some of the rooms looked, and I was no where near as cluttered as some of the guests.
Now, I do it to make life a little more simple and organized. It really is a great feeling and I have no desire to go out and shop to replace what I get rid of.

Good job! I'm sure that feels great!
I really need to do this, but finding the time is my problem. I work 30 hours a week and have a 14 month old DD. I try and do a little at a time, but it is getting me no where.

I like the website - she recommends/encourages just 15 minutes at a time. I bet you can do that.

It is a great feeling----I have three bags of toss out on my bedroom floor right now and two laundry baskets full of stuff to sell on ebay!

As I sell on ebay I've been taking the cash and paying down or cc debt. I don't have any desire to buy more STUFF at all. My dh took a picture of my dd's room for me. She is 5 and won't clean up anything. I realized the other day her room was MY FAULT . She's overwhelmed in there and my expecting her to clean up and organize that much stuff is unreal. I cleaned her room on Saturday----It took over 3 hours ----that was an eye opener.

I also noticed that the more I get rid of the more my kids seem to play with what is left and they seem happier and more creative with the toys they got to keep.

Surrounded by stuff is no way to live. Anytime I think about buying unneeded toys etc. I have the pic of dd's room in my wallet in the same slot as my AMEXPRESS card and boy it stops me fast!
