Ask:
I have my 11-yr old granddaughter visiting with us this week (it is her spring break). Guess what the kids are doing?
No, they aren't sitting in front of the TV, although I'm so tired this evening that was my first choice.
They are sewing.
They raided my fabric stash (which I was going to declutter anyway) and are measuring each other to make outfits. They're sewing by hand because I just bought a sewing machine after 5-yr old DD broke mine (fiddled with the knobs without my knowing) and I haven't had much of an opportunity to play with it yet. I certainly don't want to have to buy another one!
They are also playing with the GeMagic and I heard talk of 'knitting'. Whatever, at least the 11-yr old isn't in front her laptop or on the cellphone.
Answer:
How nice is that! Us girls would always do crafts at my grandmas house! My grandma still sews- I should have her teach me how to sew again- she taught us years ago but I never really cared for it (I was more into painting).
Have a fun visit with them!
Answer:
That was my favorite part about going to grandma's! I would get to paint, sew, build stuff, play in the garden, do puzzles, and all that fun stuff.
Answer:
It is always so hard figuring out what to get the grandchildren for their birthdays, especially as they get older. I've decided the 11-yr old is getting a sewing machine.

You have an 11 year old granddaughter? It's funny how we get a picture in our minds about what people look like / how old they are. I pictured you late thirties, dark curly hair, about 5'7 and way too youing to have grandkids.
I love my kids but I have a sneaking suspicion, if history repeats itself, I may even enjoy my grandkids more. My oldest is 8 so I have a few years until then.
Answer:
I'm 5'4" and shrinking. I could stand to lose 20 lbs. I have dark shoulder length very straight hair. People say I look like I'm still in my 30's. I think they are just being kind.
