Ask:
We just got back from a 1 week trip to UT, we all got sick but my DD was the first to get better. Yesterday (daddy went back to work) and at around her usual nap time she just started SCREAMING! I don't mean crying or whining, but screaming so hard that my throat hurt. I finally got her to sleep but today she did it again and it lasted 2x as long.
I'm not the type of mommy to just leave her to cry, but I really felt like doing it because I could feel myself getting out of control.
Finally, I called my mom (After trying everything in God's green earth to give to her) and she told me to take her outside. I finally did, and she fell asleep immediately!!!
Our schedule is all thrown for a loop - could this be it, do I need to get back on a regular schedule? Or should I take her to the dr? I think she's getting molars too...and she feels kinda feverish but she only does it at nap time.
after her nap, it's over.
Im still sorta sick so I don't have a lot of energy to do all this, any tricks, ideas, words of wisdom, sympathy...lol. anything!?
Answer:
Well God bless you! Probably a little bt of everything! between a schedule being messed up and having been on vacation and if She is teething...I would give it a couple of days unless your instinct says that something is WRONG! I hope She stops this soon cxause that is no fun at all. good luck!
Answer:
I hope she will settle soon! You like you are doing all you can....
Answer:
After you've done all that you can, it will not hurt her to cry it out a little. *I know it's soo hard, believe me. *My ds is 17mos and did this to us the other day....after offering all that I could, and nothing worked he went to bed.,...cried it out and was a happy little man going forward. *GOod luck to you and follow your mommy instincts!!
Answer:
Sounds like it could be an ear infection. My daughter has done the same things lots of times. She will be just fine during the day because she's sitting up....put her down for a nap and scream!!!!! A scream unlike any other!! IF there's an ear infection it always hurts them worse when they are laying down. The fluid backs up or something...that might explain the low fever also. My dd usually gets ear infections after being sick like you mentioned your daughter had been. I guess they can "spin off" from other viruses. That's my $.02. I hope that it turns out that she's just fine.
Answer:
I agree with saasue it could be an ear infection. My DD had them quite a bit and she would scream until she was held in order to go to sleep. He doc recommended putting a folded blanket under her crib mattress to help the fluid drain down. Maybe take her in to her ped doc and have her checked.
Answer:
Oh also wanted to say hang in there! I know its hard when you are sick and they are just getting over it. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Answer:
I am so feeling you!! Hang in there! *When my DD was 18 mo. old ( she's now 20 mo.) my mother came to visit for a week and let me tell you.....She hadn't seen my mom for about 3 months and had forgotten her, I suppose, but it completely threw my daughter into a tail spin! *Even after she left, my DD couldn't get back into her groove. *She threw a hysterical fit every day when we dropped her off at daycare and mind you she's been at her daycare since she was 8 mos. old and totally used to it. *She was also exceptionally clingy and fussy with me at home. *I DID take her to her dr., I was so concerned. *Her doctor said that it was totally normal as children this age are so routine-oriented. *The dr. said not to be surprised if it took her up to 10 days to settle back down! *I would have never known!! Sure enough though, after about 10 days after my mom's visit, her was her happy, jolly self and running with open arms to her daycare teacher in the mornings and her clinginess had subsided. *So, I'm not sure it it was the trip and upset routine in your daughter's case, but it certainly could be. *Take care and best wishes!!!

This sounds like exactly it! She's starting to rid the behavior, it only shows up when she is really overtired. I have to work to get her back on a nap schedule. She was at our family reunion and then we went directly to UT on a plane, to another reunion. I think she's decompensating from being around so many people, even though she was "good" there. She's starting to get back to being good ol benni!!
Thanks for all your support, gals, I NEEDED IT BAD!
I hope it's not an infection but she sleeps fine through the night and even during her naps. However, she had one ear infection that she slept fine, no problems...we discovered it when we took her in for a rash. She's going in for her shots next week - I'll ask them to check it. thanks!
