I have several family heirloom silver pieces....tea set, platters, relishes, etc...that are tarnished from years/decades of neglect. I would love nothing more than to use/display them.
Does anyone know of any silver cleaner that really works? I bought one of those silver plates for the bottom of my sink, but it doesn't work on really bad tarnish. I don't want to kill myself polishing, so something that really works but is kind of simple would be great.

I have the book Haley's hints- I found the below link that talks about his way of cleaning silver. My mom cleans hers this way as well.

Thank you. That is similar to what I tried, but I only had to use one or the other of the salt/washing soda. My lightly tarnished stuff got nice and shiny, but the heavily tarnished hardly changed. I need some really powerful stuff, I think.
