Question on Garlic Press

Ask:
I just got a garlic press and used it for the 2nd time yesterday. I need help here...

I place the garlic clove in the basket. I press down and the clove is smashed and diced. However, there seems like there is soooo much of the clove left in the basket. What do you do with it? It seems like a lot of the clove to waste. Am I doing something wrong? Do I just have a broken press?

Help!
Answer:

You can take the rest of the garlic clove out and dice it up with a knife.

I bought two of them thinking one did not work and it did the same thing.
Answer:

I readjust the "leftovers" to see if any more will come out. If not then to the trash it goes.

Thanks! Seems kinda like defeating the purpose to leave that much behind to cut with a knife anyway. Someone should improve that
Answer:

Your press isn't broke, they all work like that. Some better then others but that's a very common situation. I generally press one clove, then another, then I have to readjust the remaining pulp and press again. It is a lot of work, so if you're only pressing a few cloves, you're better off smashing and dicing. If you have a bunch of cloves to do, you can get really affordable pre-diced garclic packed in water at most major grocery stores, go for the no-name brands. They even have them in roasted garlic flavors, they'e more pricey but worth it depending on the recipe.

c That's what I do too. I love the PC press. You don't even have to peel the clove.
Answer:

ugh...I never met a garlic press I liked

I use the little chopper where the blade retracts into the canister(plus it works great for potatoes and nuts-I like multi purpose stuff) or just have at it with a BIG knife.

I know I gave up on the ones I had too.I tossed them!
Answer:

The stuff left behind in the garlic press is just a little bit of fibre. You can discard it.

I've got a Zyliss garlic press and use it all the time.
