Ask:
Anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to buy a new mattress for her but I might have to.
Answer:
Try sprinkling baking soda over the matress and letting it sit for a few hours then vaccumming it up. Then use a vinagar solution to wipe it down.
I used baking soda on my dogs bed when she had an accident on a long trip. It worked great until I was able to get it home and wash it good.
Answer:
Spray lysol on it, too. THat will help kill any bacteria that are growing.
Answer:
Pet odor eliminator? I never tried it but often wondered if it would work on human urine.
Answer:
Yeah, I agree with the pp, try the pet products for removing urine. Nature's Miracle is a little pricy, but it works wonders with cat urine. You may have to soak the spot, and you may have to use it a couple of times, but I've successfully gotten the smell of cat urine out of a mattress (the stain remains to this day, but at least the smell's gone!). Nature's Miracle contains enzymes that will target the protein in urine, but obviously it's formulated for cats and dogs, not human urine, but I bet it still works.
Answer:
Sunlight.
Ya ever wonder why you see all those mattresses sitting outside people's homes?
Answer:
Another vote for vinegar and baking soda. The vinegar is antibacterial. Spray it on the spot, and scrub. Then sprinkle with baking soda.
Answer:
Try Febreeze or the generic stuff, we have used it with my daughter and it has worked!
