Ask:
I can't remember if its been talked about before but how are gas prices affecting your personally. Are you taking family vacations that are closer to home or skipping them altogether? Have you had to cut back on other expenses?
I'm saving around $80/month in gas since I changed to weekend option. I plan my errands so I minimize gas mileage. I don't run to the other side of town unless I can combine errands. When the weather is nicer I'll walk to the library-will be 2 miles round trip. When I have errands relatively closs together I've parked in the middle and walked back and forth--sometimes walking acouple blocks.
Answer:
we live in a small town with everything relatively close together so it isn't affecting our everyday life, however the prices are making it REALLY hard to convince dh about my trips back home (usually 3-4 times a year, haven't been able to go at all this year) because its a 7 hr drive..
Answer:
I wouldn't say it affects my daily life at all. I still do what I want and go when I want. Although I want to go see my parents and am dreading how expensive gas for a 12 hour drive will be.
Really it only affects me when I have to fill up the tank on the truck and I think yuck. But I still do it anyway.
Answer:
Its $3.00 a gallon here now. It affects me because I no longer can afford to pay the gas charge every month.
Answer:
I just paid 3.33 a gallon yesterday here in N. Cal. It is getting so pricey.
I got tired of paying $60 a week in gas (just for my car--not even mentioning dh's motorcycle or car) so I have gotten rid of my small suv and am replacing it with a hybrid car. Where I live, the only thing within walking distance is dd's gymnastics class, so unfortunately driving less isn't always feasible for me, but we try by combining errands as much as possible.
Answer:
Thankfully the gas here isn't quite to $3 yet. I do try to conserve my running around whenever I can, but there really hasn't been a huge impact on my daily life so far. But, as a SAHM, I can pretty much choose when and where to go so am not forced to spend all that much on gas weekly. A tank usually lasts me 2 weeks or more so I am lucky!!
I admit that I haven't been travelling to visit out of town family as much as I used to. Its more that we are busy than the gas, but I thought about taking a quick day trip to my MawMaws house tomorrow and decided the 3 hr trip each way wasn't worth it to just spend a few hours. I'm saving it for when I can stay a few days.
Answer:
It's really cutting into our budget since Dh has a full size dodge pickup and drives 20 miles each way to work and back about 4-5 days a week. Of course i am trying to conserve the amount of trips i make for errands, etc. I have no choice but to fill my tank on the days that i work because it's a 39 mile mail route. The library is within walking distance and so is our small town grocery store. If i could only get my dh to stop making stupid and un-necessary trips all weekend ( like calling the car part store in another town to see if they have the item in stock before wasting all your gas money hunting one down?!!!) Men never listen!!!
Answer:
I definately cut back...I really try to run no more than 2 days a week.I do what I have to and less of just fun running.
Answer:
Gas is $2.64 a gallon here. We have saved on gas in the last 4 1/2 months since I work for the school now & it's 5 blocks from my house. At my old job it was 20 minutes from house in the next town, and running errands & stuff gas was getting used up pretty quickly. I haven't cut back too much on my errand running because it's usually done here in our small town. However I don't know what it will be like during the summer when we go to Missouri & Oklahoma.
Answer:
Well, Matt and I don't really do much more driving than to work or Walmart, so we haven't changed that very much. We are taking it into consideration in planning our vacation this summer. The prices are hurting us more because of the impact it has on our groceries. That is where it is really gauging us.
