Challenging myself

Ask:
Money is really tight around here lately. I am challenging myself to only buy necessities for the next month. Of course my necessities my not be what others consider necessities, but my main goal is to think about each and everything we buy and see if we could do without it. I know this week I will have to get some soccer shin guards for my boys and soccer shoes for the oldest. I just made a "grocery list" of meals we already have all the stuff for at home and have at least a dozen things, so grocery shopping will be at a minimum. I sure hope this works!!
Answer:

It can work, we have been doing the same thing with a big vacation I dont need to spend money on stocking too much like I normaly do.
Answer:

Good luck! I like your goal...many is a time I will stand in the aisle of a store holding something thinking "Do I really need this?" I know i have saved some $$ by second guessing myself, and putting it back instead!
Answer:

Good luck with your challenge!!
Money is tight here too this month, also trying to save save save!!
Answer:

I need to do this too.. baby on the way any day I hope! lol! And hubby will probably miss a couple nights off of work with no pay, , so will be tight here for a couple weeks too.

Good Luck to you!
Answer:

I would ask around about the shin guards and shoes...I needed baseball cleats for my son and asked around and 3 moms gave me the exact right size! One pair was brand new..didn't fit her son and she "didn't want to be bothered with returning them" (?!) Some people may feel funny about asking for things, but honestly, these Mom's were HAPPY to give them to someone who could use them...we kept the pair that fit best, and passed the other two along...it's worth a try! Make buying something new at a store your last resort..you may surprise yourself with your creativity!
Answer:

I love engaging myself in those kinds of challenges! Keep us posted how you make out and Good luck!
Answer:

Good luck to you! I may do this in May but I know that I will have a hard time getting dh to follow with it. He is the one that is picky and could never use up food in the house. Plus if I could get him to take a lunch it would be much easier
Answer:

This is actually a really good plan to get yourself in the habit of doing...you'll be surprised what you can live without.
