This past week my 6.5 year old son has complained of pain in his legs about three times. It's around the same time every day.....right after lunch time. It doesn't last long but it does make him cry.
I'm going to call his doctor but thought i would see if anyone has experience with this and if it sounds like growing pains.

that's same symptoms mine had for growing pains. I would rub legs til my arms hurt. at night I would give tylenol.

Yep, all 3 of mine have that happen from time to time. Mostly in their knees, and in the evenings, and helped with Tylenol or Advil.

My DD had growing pains from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. She would get alot of knee pain around lunch time and then again at night. I remember rubbing her knees and giving children's Advil. Hope your little guy grows out of them quick!

I heard somewhere that a remedy for growing pains is often an increase in calcium. Encourage him to eat 1-2 more servings of dairy or give him a supplement. I heard it helps most of the time. If calcium does not work after a week or so I would take him to the doctor just to be safe

I work for an office of 3 Podiatrists, one specializing in Pediatric Podiatry. There is no such thing as "growing pains". Any foot/leg/ankle pain at this age can be due to a number of things, including: calcium deficiency, iron deficiency, potassium deficiency or improper foot mechanics (i.e. high arches, flat feet, etc.). You can always administer Tylenol for pain/comfort, but it is not something to take lightly. You should see your Pediatrician right away. He/she may suggest a vitamin supplement or even refer your child to a Podiatrist for evaluation if the problem is due to an improper foot mechanic. Fortunately my ds has never experienced this, but a friend of mine has an 8 year old ds and her dr also told her it was growing pains. I agree that if it continues that I would call your doctor to get his opinion.
