Ask:
Hi, very new to gardening (obviously!!). I bought a strawberry plant, blueberry plant and a raspberry plant at Costco 2 weeks ago. They came in peet in a pot that doesn't drain. Well, I live in PA and it is in the 40's here now so I have kept them in the pot they came in, have them on the window sil and water them only when they are totally dry. My question is: will they grow if I always keep them inside? I am worried that my neighboors kids (ALWAYS on our property and DON"T listen at all ( ) will pick and eat the plants if I put them outside. If you do recommend they go outside, what do they need? Full sun, partial sun, watering once a week? Thanks for your help!!!
Answer:
Typically plants don't get enough light to fruit when they are kept inside. If you wanted to invest in some grow lights - and the electricity to power them - you might have a chance with the strawberries. The blueberry and the raspberry have to be planted outside because they get much bigger and need more room for their roots.

I haven't spent too much time in this area but this may be of good help to you. There is a lot of helpful information about growing berries indoors here. HTH
Answer:
Strawberries are really the only fesible ones that might be able to survive inside all year, but pollenation is going to be up to you to do it since the bees won't be inside.
Raspberries are a root plant. They must be plnated outdoors. They most likely will not produce anything this year, they need to grow all year thou and then next year will fruit. But it all varies on the type of raspberry you have.
Blueberries are also an outdoor plant. Most likely will not produce anything this year as well, they flower in spring and then fruit during the summer. I bought patio blueberries this year, one's that I can container garden with in a pot, but if I planted it the bush would grow to be 2 feet by 2 feet.
All of this greatly depends on what varieties you purchased, but from a based line of these fruits, they all go outdoors.
As for the neighbors kids, go talk to the parents or get a fence, problem solved.
