I've counted 57 here in the office and I've another 10 or more in the kitchen, plus 2 binders full of mags, a magazine container thing full of mags, my allrecipes.com card box is nearly full, and I've got a real recipe card box with a bunch, too....DH enables me, though. He bought most of them.

I have 28 cookbooks and six three ring bonders (the huge 4" ones) full of recipes I have printed off the internet and typed up. I have all those in plastic page protector sheets.
I can't cook most things without a recipe and don't like making the same thing more than a couple times. I have my few favorites but I like to mix it up.
Answer:
I knew I'd be in good company here! I don't feel so bad now but I'm still trying to weed a few out. A few of mine were hand me downs so I can't get rid of those but I might put them away to get them out of my hair.

Answer:
I think its genetic for the women in my family to collect cookbooks and I definitely have the gene. I have around 30 cookbooks, countless notebooks full of recipes I've written down, and about a dozen 3 ring binders full of ones I've copied off the internet.
On the plus side I am sticking to my New Year's Resolution to not buy any new cookbooks. I get them free off the computer, I check out Taste of Home magazine from the library and copy ones down that sound good, or I've even sat down in a bookstore and copied a few down. The library also has an endless supply of cookbooks to check out.
