"My Favorite Project" - Button Pins by Mom2One

These were inspired by Mom2One's grandmother's "button box." And they were used as party favors for a bridal shower!!

The instructions below can be used to make a unique, "button box" pin:

Supplies:
• Buttons, beads, small charms
• Wooden cut-outs (any shape or size will do, as long as you have corresponding jewelry hardware)
• Jewelry Hardware (clasp pins, barrettes, earrings)
• Strong glue or a hot glue made specifically for jewelry making (I use Gorilla Glue for the pin and Aleene's Tacky Glue for the buttons)

Use a flat, wooden cut-out such as a rectangle, square or heart (depending on the shape of the pin desired) as a base. These can be purchased at any craft store, usually in bags of 3-5 pieces. For small pins you might use a large, flat button as the actual base.

Choose various button shapes, sizes, and colors and lay them on the wooden base until you find a basic "look" you like. Experiment by placing buttons in different positions, or add beads or other charms to the mix.

Make a "foundation" for the bulk of the buttons by gluing flat (non-ornate) buttons on the wooden base.

Build up from there, add the remaining buttons/beads/charms.

Basically, you can do anything you want, in any shape.

Fasten a jewelry pin to the back and allow the piece to dry for at least one day.
