How much food....

Ask:
do you let your baby eat at one sitting??

Do you make a "serving" and when she/he is done that is it...or do make more and let them keep eating??

My almost 11 month old, usually eats "jar food" so she rarely eats the entire 6 oz. jar of the stage 3 foods. Which is fine...when she stops she stops and I save the rest for the next meal. (usually it is half of each of two different foods/jars, dinner and dessert)

However, she is starting to phase over to our food, and she seems to not want to stop eating...

For example, today I made some Cream of Broccoli soup with some leftover rice and chicken...and added some cheddar cheese....so I shared my bowl of soup with her...and she ate half of the bowl...and still wanted more....and it seemed to me that it was more than she normally eats out of one of those 6 oz. jars.

I didn't give her anymore...cause I am thinking it is like "candy" to her...real food. But maybe I should have let her keep eating...

Any thoughts??

I am not an expert- though I have always thought that kids do not overeat- that they know when to stop at this age. That some days they may eat more than normal and other days eat less. That when they have a big plate of food they will eat until they are full and stop.
At the age she is she is more active and most likely needs more fuel IMO I would have let her eat more.

You are probably right...and I forgot to add that I did give her her bottle after the soup...so she did get "more"...just not more soup.

I have found I let my daughter eat what she wants. You have to remeber how much they are growing and that they are going to eat a lot during a growth spurt. Also my dd has what I call her 3 day cycle where she won't eat a lot but man on that 3rd day she goes to town. also there are other factors in there that will lead up to a day of just eating I know when dd was teathing she wouldn't eat at all but when her teeth started to feel better she was making up for it.

My youngest is 10 months old too and she eats like a little piggy!! I started giving her people food a few weeks ago and she can't get enough. Although, I've noticed that when she does get full, she starts to play with the food.

Ian is 15 months old, and also eats like a little pig. In fact, he often eats more than his 4-year-old brother. I'm not worried about it. He is in the 50% weight-wise, and Quentin ate exactly the same way when he was that age. I'm just glad that I have two healthy boys that enjoy eating fruits, vegetables and other healthy food!
