Ask:
I have tried to make homemade wipes, cutting the paper towels in half and all I seem to get is a big mess!! I really feel stupid everytime I try and do it, I've tried different ways but for some reason I just can't get it to work. I've read that people in the wipes container, but how do you get them to fit to be able to get them out easily when neede?? I need help on what seems to be such a simple concept!!!!
Answer:
First you have to use good paper towels like Bounty. I found a tub like container from rubbermaid that I felt worked much better, yes its bigger than a wipes container but easier! When you want to take them out of the house take a few and transfer to a ziplock baggie. Good luck!

Answer:
You need to use a premium brand, like Bounty as the previous poster said. Cheaper brands will disintegrate. Pour the solution over half a roll (use an electric knife to saw in half), then wait a few minutes. The core should come out of the middle and the wipes pop up through that. You can store them in a round Rubbermaid container, coffee can, or similarly shaped storage container.

I had the same problem when I first started making homemade wipes. What works for me now (a lot of people will probably think this is way too time consuming, but hey, I'm anal like that!) is to rip each paper towel apart then cut them in half in bunches. Then I fold little piles into thirds and put them into the wipes container. Then I pour the solution over them - mushing it down as needed and working the solution into the pile of wipes. I make two rolls worth at a time and store the extras in a large rubbermaid container (I use a wipes container when I make them to make sure they're the right size) and put wipes in my containers as needed (this also allows me to keep using my wipes warmer). It just works for me - I watch TV while I'm ripping and cutting so it isn't too bad. When I need a wipe, I do have to peel them apart (preferably before taking the diaper off!!), but I usually do extras so that I only have to do it every couple of diaper changes.
Oh, and I use Bounty Basic and they work just fine.
