Ask:
Maybe I am just too overly protective but there are a number of Disney movies out now that I am not quite ready to show my two and four year old. I'm not sure if my parents had the same reservations as we parents do, about violence and language, but I'm thinking if I don't screen these things, no one will. There is so much "stuff" out there I don't want them exposed to ~ just yet. Things as simple as the word "stupid", "butt", "shut up". I hear them all the time.
I am being overly sensitive I know. I am trying to conserve my child's innocent ears!!!
Answer:
Pretty much all of their PG movies. Even Lilo and Stitch and most things after 2pm on the Disney Channel.
Answer:
Lilo and Stitch is really bad. Shrek is another one.
Answer:
I was going to say Lilo and Stitch, too. We don't watch Disney after 1pm central. The Incredibles was questionable, but we watched it with them. It isn't one of their favorites so it isn't a problem.
By the way, Shrek isn't Disney. I bet sometimes they wish it was, but it isn't. I think he is Dreamworks.
Answer:
Any of them. Ds is picky about what he watches and just does not like cartoon type shows, all the better I say. For being family friendly I think most of the Disney stuff is pretty un-family friendly myself.
Answer:
W'e have started collecting the "classics" but dd doesn't like any show that has an "evil" aspect to it. She also doesn't sit through more than about a 30 min show. We also don't watch Disney after the preschool shows are over.
Answer:
Kat's favourite movie is Finding Nemo. I skip past the part where Nemo's mom dies and start the movie right after the opening credits. "First day of school! First day of school!!"
I usually don't care for Disney movies, especially the ones with animals. They always pick one of the cutest animals and then kill them. Why?!?
Old Yeller was one stinker of a movie.

I do the exact same thing!
Answer:
There are only a handful of Disney movies I will let the girls (3 & 5) watch. The Toy Story 2 (waaay less scary than the first one), Finding Nemo, Cars, and most of the Pooh movies The Heffalump one is one of their favorites!
Answer:
I, too, don't let them watch many Disney movies and shows. We hardly ever even watch the Disney channel. We stick with PBS cartoons. My big problem with Disney stuff is it is SO SEXUAL. I hate it. So many are about romantic love and jealousy and men fighting for the girl, as if she has no say in the matter. Even when they make a token effort to make a strong female character, it's still all about how beautiful she is. Plus, the clothes are revealing and breasts are huge and figures are always hourglass.
My worst one is Aladian. There is a scene in there where Jasmine is trying to distract the bad guy and basically does a "come hither" dance moves and "oh baby, baby" I turned it off, told the kids it was inappropriate and never let them watch it again. Also, Beauty and the Beast with Gaston and all that. ugh.
So, you are not alone. I'm actually heartened to see how many people on here say the same thing. I'm usually the odd one out on this.
