Update on deadbeat Dad

Ask:
This is an update to a previous thread
My ex called yesterday, I wasn't sure what to expect, the rare occasion he does call and ask to speak to me it's to yell at me about something or pick a fight. He was calling to discuss the paperwork I got in the mail - apparently he got the same forms. He wanted to make sure we wrote down the same info. I was expecting him to tell me he didn't want to pay anymore but he assured me he planned on paying until our DS was 18 (another 2 months.) Technically I could get him to pay a few months more, DS has to take a couple summer school classes to grraduate HS - but I am tired of fighting.

My ex hasn't offered to help pay the $2500.00 tuition bill, or any of the travel expenses for DS's stay at a private school in California. He hasn't offered to help with the summer school cost, nor a public bus pass or car insurance. He currently pays half of any medical bills not covered by insurance - no mention of helping with that either. Luckily we have my DH who according to my son has been a better father to him for the past 2 yrs than his natural father ever was in 17. DH has told me many times he wishes my kids were his, I'm sure if they were my DS would not have the issues that led him to a private school in California.

Thank you for the update. Some good, some not so good.

My situation is similar...in the child support aspect. My ex doesn't want to pay...and I know will NOT contirbute once they are 18. But he does want to be involved...go figure....he wants to have his cake and eat it too!!

"I want to be a father emotionally, but not finacially" Makes no sense to me...but I guess I can't complain too much.

That is great that you have a understanding and wonderful dh!! Glad you have him.
