School Bus issues!!

Ask:
I am soooooo mad:furious:

And there is not much I can do.

My dd who is in middle school....rides the bus to and from school...no big deal right??

Well, for about a month now...they are short one bus driver, so my dd's bus driver has to do a "double run", and dd is on the second run, so she is late to school everyday. It is only about 10-15 min. late to school. She doesn't miss much....really just the "morning talk" with her friends.

She really wants me to drive her every morning....but that is usually when I am putting the baby down for a nap or feeding her breakfast.

I know I can adjust the baby's schedule no big deal.

But why can't they just get enough bus drivers!!!!?????!!!!!!!

They will find one, and it will be ok for about a week....and then they are back to "double runs" again.

In the meantime, my dd and the kids who ride her bus....stand out at the bus stop for an extra 30 min. waiting for the bus to arrive.

Ok, I feel a little better now. There isn't anything I can do, because I know they are trying to find another bus driver...but what is taking so long!!!????!!!

And the kicker is you never know which day the bus will be late until it just doesn't show up on time...so it is hard to make "plans"....KWIM??
Answer:

That is awful!!! If they have no drivers they need to get some administrators out there driving the buses!!!
Answer:

Oh that's a drag...

I'd definately keep complaining to the powers that be with the buses. I know for me, I'd probably drive my child so that they'd be on time or had time before school for the 'chit chat' etc but that's me. How many more weeks of school are there? I'd probably just drive her every morning til the end of the year. But I'm a person that has always driven my kids.
Answer:

I would also just drive her. That isn't fair to her bus at all. Why can't the other bus be the late one every other week until they find a replacement?

Honestly, I doubt they would find one before the end of the year so I would be driving her, but, like Oregano said, that is just me. That chit chat time is pretty important for a middle school girl.
Answer:

Our district last year, due to budget cuts, when from a five day school week to a four day school week (which as it turned out I love) and one of the groups that it really hurt was the bus drivers -- the cut made them go from full time to part time status and they lost their benefits. They ended up losing several bus drivers. I think they have the problem straightened out this year (at least I have heard any complaints) but let's face it being the only adult on a bus of 40 yelling kids of all ages ... they need to pay those people well! That is the last job I would ever want!

I probably will drive my kids when they start to school. I know when I was a kid that the bus was a pretty rough environment then and that was back in the 70's and early 80's in North Idaho!
Answer:

here we are on our 4th bus driver this year and he has no rules. the kids can do whatever they want to do basically. it has been a very frustrating bus year. he is supposed to be here at 7:05 to pick up dd and he always arrives at either 7:00 or 7:15, so we never know if he is gonna be late of early, andhe never drops heroff when he is supposed to, its either 10 minutes late or 10 minutes early. its very frustrating.
Answer:

I'm glad I will not have to worry about a bus We live less than a block from school. You can see the playground from my front porch If we are still in the area when she goes to Junior High she will ride the bus for 2 years and then she will be able to walk to the high school.
