Ask:
French Toast Casserole (an overnight recipe)
1 loaf of thick sliced bread
5 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
3 cups milk
2 cups half & half
Topping:
1.5 cups brown sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
3 tbsp corn syrup (optional)
Grease a 13x9 cake pan and layer bread slices
*In a large mixing bowl combine milk, eggs, half &half, cinnamon, and vanilla
*Pour over bread, soaking each top slice.
*Cover and allow to soak overnight in the fridge
- the bread will be swimming in liquid, its ok - by AM it will all be absorbed.
*In the AM (or whenever you are ready to cook)preheat oven to 350.
*Remove from fridge.
*In a small saucepan add all ingredients listed above for topping.
*Bring to a boil but do not burn, stirring constantly
*Pour over bread and cook for 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
I recently gave this to a family who had a death. I knew they were deluged with meat trays and casseroles for dinner so I thought a nice breakfast the first Sunday after the burial would be nice.

I dont know why more people dont do these overnight dishes!!!
They rule--theyre deliscious and free up alot of run time in the morning!!!
Even also-if you do breakfast for dinner toss this together with that mornings breakfast and dinners oven ready!!!
