Ask:
So, our house is REALLY coming along quickly!
Isnt it cute?!
We're probably going to be moving in around June. I want to start packing but dont really know where to start (we've moved like 500 times in the past 7 years so you would think I would know what to do!)
I'll think about packing and maybe even get a box out... but then dont know where to go! lol I really need to go through all of the kids clothes and toys.. but am soooo putting that off... thats gonna take all day!
We're having a neighborhood garage sale on the 19th so I HAVE to do it before then.. but as far as packing these boxes... WHERE DO I BEGIN!!!???
Answer:
Pick something that you want to keep, but do not use all the time. Maybe books? and just start packing!! I packed alot of my kitchen ahead of time too and just left the bare minimum. Good luck!!! Moving is no fun, but at least you get a cool new house out of it
Answer:
DUR!!!!!!!!!!!! See! Scrapbooking magazines!!!! DJ's started pulling those off the shelves... you would think it would register.. maybe you should go ahead and pack those!!! Geez. K.. whats next.
Answer:
Nice House
Everything off season? Heavier blankets, extra sheets, winter clothes.....
Answer:
Nice digs...make sure you post pics when it is complete too!
I'm with Happymom, I always pack books first. I don't know why...prob b/c those are my heaviest boxes and there are alot of books in a few boxes so I feel like I accomplished something. Next I would do all off season stuff, then I move to the unused appliances that I want to being with me but won't use in the mean time (blender, extra pans, extra big utensils etc). Once you start it'll become automatic again!
Answer:
I do off season, anything in the attic/storage areas, linens other than those I know I will HAVE to have, pictures/wall decor (and I can wrap those in the linens for safe keeping!), games, books, and extra dishes that I don't use on a daily basis. Then, as it gets closer, I pack up more and more that we don't use on a weekly basis..and then down to a daily basis!! When we moved to TN from AL two years ago, it was almost scary how prepared I was!!! Also, in packing like this, I found more and more that I could get rid of at garage sales before we moved, donations to Goodwill, and just giving away to friends!
Answer:
Yeah... I should DEFINTELY pack a lot before the garage sale...I bet I could find a TON! Thanks yall!
Answer:
I didn't even know you were building a new house. Looks really nice!! I always did books first too, then extra kitchen stuff, then out of season, and for you...yes, scrapbooking. I'd just start...and then as you find things for the garage sale stack them in boxes in a corner of the garage or somewhere and before you know it you'll have a big pile.
Answer:
Nice house, Ember. Good luck packing. I don't have any tips. I have only moved 1 time in my life.
Answer:
ha ha sounds like us! We have moved at least a gaziollion and one times in the last 8 years! We are moving now hopefully for the last time in a looooong time! I am starting with winter clothes and have 2 boxes one for rummage one for next year. I am clearing shelves off first and leaving bare minimum. I agree off season stuff should be sorted an packed through first.
