Lakeshore learning

Ask:
I revd a catalog from this company and I find the books very interesting and they have many autism items for social skills and learning.

I did buy from them when we set up our ABA program and wanted to let you know that they carry items for asspies and autism. The other company we bought from was a Different Road.
Answer:

Which catalog did you get that had things for autism? I have a store nearby and have repeatedly asked them to try to bring in things for autism and Aspergers, which seems outside of the local management's control! I didn't see anything stand out in the catalogs I have. Would you mind letting me know which catalog you are looking at and how to find those things? So grateful. I've especially asked for things/books, etc. for social skills and the ones they show me are a joke. They either talk down to the kids or assume what most assume; that Aspies pick up on the known social niceties that come so naturally to the typical world. Thank you, my dear.
Answer:

Have you ever tried a weighted vest? I know those can be very beneficial for the Autism spectrum and sensory processing. Many schools keep them on-hand for students to use.
Answer:

I think Tacoma is the first one I'd ever heard from about a weighted vest. I don't want to invest in one (they are expensive!) unless I knew it would work. I had no idea some schools have them - let's just say our OT is not overly outgoing. But I will email her and ask. Thank you for the suggestion.
Answer:

Hi Carol,

It was different roads to learning that I was reading. Urg, brain injury and it is at

They had great items like flash cards, I can tie my shoes, what's my job, things in my house, PECS daily schedule board kit, visual schedule for the classroom, What do I say, What do I do, etc. I could go broke in this catalog.

Let me know and I will forward it to you. Also this issue of Wrightslaw was very good. When you have time. Please I will come and clean your house so you can rest!
