Neighbor child vent!

Ask:
So last night we were sitting at the dinner table talking about our day when my kindergartner asked me what is meant to be 'sexing?' EXCUSE ME? What did you just say? He repeated it.

Then my 8 yo told me that he was talking with a little neighbor girl who is 9 yo and when they went back to go play ball, the boy next door (who is in first grade) said, "oh, I bet you two were having sex." First of all, maybe I live in a bubble, but why in the world would a first grader even know that word and second of all, how would he know what it was? Yes, he knew what it was b/c the older kids flat out asked him to say what he knew.

So I got to be the lovely neighbor last night & go tell on the kid. I simply told them what he said & asked them if they would talk to him about his word choice in the future. It was all I could do to NOT go off (those of you who know me can appreciate that! ) Needless to say the kid denied it so the mom came over to talk to my boys & then went back armed with specific details. She was completely mortified.

I surely hope this isn't a preview of how summer is going to go.
Answer:

Oh something like that happened to us! We were at the dinner table and one of my 7-yr olds stood up and said, 'Look at me, I'm a P-I-M-P!' What!?! I asked him where he heard that and he said it was a girl in school. The next day I e-mailed his teacher and told her. It's so unfortunate that we can't just cover their ears and eyes at all the bad things!
Answer:

It's amazing what kids know nowadays!

Thanks to a girl at my dd's school who occassionally talks to my dd about sex (she's also been teaching my dd cuss words -- I wish there was a way to keep her away from my dd ) and a boy at school who was pretending to be (quoting my dd here) "sexing his desk", I get to have "The Talk" with my dd a year earlier than I had planned to. These kids are only 8 years old!! Where do they get this stuff?
Answer:

Isn't it awful!! The other day my DD dropped a ball and was making a noise like sht, sht, sht. I asked her what she was saying and she told me "That's how I say $h!t" It was so disturbing for me to have to listen to that word coming out of my sweet and innocent little 4YO's mouth. She had no clue. Where'd she learn it? School, of course.
Answer:

I already had The Talk with dd, but my boys had no clue. Hopefully the 5 & 6 yo still don't!, Not sure what I'm going to do about my 8 yo. Think I will let dh handle that!
Answer:

YIKES, so far I have not had to deal with that. I hope it stays that way for awhile.
Answer:

Whoa! I must live in a bubble too because I didn't know that much until I was at least 15/16! I'm glad that you went over to tell the parents, and it seems that it was probably something he picked up at school, since his mother seemed to be mortified about it.
Answer:

Kids now a days are exposed to this type of thing on a daily basis. It is on the tv, on the radio, on the internet, you name it. I have been asked things that I hadn't planned on answering until my kids were older. However, once my child brings something like that up, I feel it is my duty to answer it as best I can so that the info they get is accurate and given the way I want them to hear it.
Answer:

It's awful what kids say & know these days. It's so sad...I hope I don't have to have the talk too early with my girls, but i don't think I'll luck out. I hope I'll be able to deal with everything that comes my way.

Good luck to everyone out there going thru this right now.
Answer:

Any child that overhears our soap operas or even Desperate Housewives, or even overhears commercials of shows during any hours hears about people "having sex". It's crazy these days.
