Ask:
When I asked him how he heard that word, he said they had just said it on the video he was watching! He was watching Discovery Channel's "Not Rated", but promoted for children's White Tip dinosaur video. I rewound it and basically the dinosaur was looking for food. Another dinosaur was coming at him. The narrator said, as it retreated, "No meal here, just sex." OMG! I just think that was completely uncalled for. Why not say, "Just someone looking for a mate." or something like that?
I just casually said, "Oh, it means all that's there is a dinosaur that wants to mate." He said, "Oh." I asked him if he knew what that meant and he said yeah. He then said it was looking to have a family.
We keep talking about how our kids pick up things, and more often than not, it comes back to the media. I have watched this with him a number of times, or have at least been in the room, but I guess I just have tuned it out. It shows you how you can't trust anything! I was watching Kim Possible and was even disgusted by some of the stuff they showed, including her dress. I don't think I'm a prude, but I think it's amazing how this has become accepted culture.
