Ask:
I am suprised that schools would actually send out suggestion sheets for Teacher Appreciation week!!!!!! Nothing like begging for gifts!!! Personally, this site is the only place I ever heard of Teacher Appreciation week!!! I consider it a Hallmark Holiday. Personally, I won't be doing anything (not that I don't appreciate the teachers, but I also appreciate my plumber, my electrician, my priest, my beautician, etc) Will you be doing anything for teacher appreciation week?
Answer:
No...I appreciate our teachers all year long. *shrug* Some folks are into it I guess, our school doesn't put it on the calendar or do anything for it specifically. If one of m ykids room mothers wanted to do something as a class, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I did send flowers to our school secretary for "Secretary's Day" because I work in the office every week and I don't know what we'd do without her! She is just an incredible person and such an asset to our school!
I don't know how I'd feel about the 'list'...the preschool my kids attended, they always noted all the teacher's birthdays and teacher appreciation week on the calendar and it always struck me as funny.
Answer:
I agree about it being a Hallmark Holiday! Our school does not send home anything regarding Teachers Appreciation. Whle I do appreciate the teacher I dont think its right for schools too have forced gift giving, really isnt that why they receive a paycheck?
Answer:
Ths "school" does not send anything but the PTA does. we do a school wide appreciation. I don't do individual teacher gifts. I will be making a desert and bringing in candles for spa day.

Answer:
We will, because he does have a great teacher that really has gone out of her way, as have a couple of his other teachers. I would feel chintzy if I found others had done things and we hadn't, with the challenges we have all had to work on. My thing is that we live in an affluent area and some spend so much money on it! I can only do what I can. My big thing is that I really do want them to feel they are appreciated. The ones involved really don't treat it as just a job.
Answer:
Is it next week??? I may get a card and a thing of flowers.
Answer:
We dont have it anywhere!! I dont nec do teacher appreciation week tho !! I make sure my dd brings things all year long weather it be Flowers she picks or we pick some up!!
Pictures she draws etc!! Id rather show Appreciation through out the year!! I Feel that my kids teachers play a VERY IMP role in my childs life!! my children are in there hands when they are not with me!! Im VERY lucky to have such wonderful teachers with my children!!
I know my oldset dd who is in1st grade she will go out of her way for each and everyone of her students, I have even found out that she will go into her purse and get a barrete for my dd when hers kept falling out and her bangs needed to be cut!! (she knew we didnt connect with the lasdy that cuts dd's hair!!) etc!! anyhow Also there was a child who was in the hosp and when she was telling me this I could hear how she cared about that child!!
just the way she is with the kids SHE makes me know how IMP each one is to her!!
Answer:
When my kids were in elementary, it was a big deal here. They DID send home a list telling us what each day's theme was and what to send it (one day teacher supply, one day homemade treat, one day homemade card, one day flower...can't remember 5th) plus the PTO did something like lunch everyday. Of course it was all voluntary so you didn't have to participate. I usually did 3 or 4 of the days...which ever ones were easier for me.
Answer:
In my sons schooleach grade appreciates one group of teachers. since DS is in KG, they are appreciating the bus drivers, so all DS has to do it make a picture and write a note. They havent asked us to buy anything and I dont think I will, I generally give at christmas.
Answer:
It certainly is a lot more fun to give a gift at the end of the year if it isn't marked on the calendar. DH and I don't even celebrate Valentine's Day...it's ridiculous to see all of these men scrambling at the last minute to find some overpriced, gaudy gift for their wife/girlfriend, and they don't even want to!!! That's why I request we just don't celebrate it. Receiving flowers on June 5th for absolutely no reason at all is much more meaningful to me. Ok, I kind of went off topic slightly, but you get my point! On that note, there are some great teacher's in my dd's school that I appreciate. But I'd rather dd just draw a card or give her homeroom teacher a flower picked from our garden.
