PLEASE pray for this!!! Ring update

Ask:
I know in the grand scheme of things, this is minor so I almost feel guilty asking for this. I am just going through an "Is there anybody good left in the world?" phase. The crazy land owner behind me is being a pain in the you know what and now my ring being stolen/taken.

I filed a police report today about my engagement ring being stolen at the gym. The manager is being really, really nice and helpful. Well, upon talking to her, we noticed that one employee, the one who found my wedding ring and I talked to over the phone as soon as I noticed they were gone, had some descrepancies. When I called, the manager was there, but the employee did not tell her about it until she was at the bank making a deposit 20 minutes later. That is just one discrepancy.

So, putting two and two together, without naming names (but the manager did tell the policeman who she thought took it) it seems most likely that this girl took my ring. It is possible that she didn't and there is no proof, but there were only 8 including myself and the manager who were in/out of the gym in the time it was there. Everybody else has been questioned and, yes, they could have done it, but this girl was caught in numerous lies about what happened, but has not been confronted. This employee, I overheard, has been written up for lying already - don't know for what and I don't care. She is really sweet, early 20's going through a divorce, etc. so I know she is not in a good place. I don't want her prosecuted or fired as I really don't think she is a bad person just misguided right now. I just want my ring back! I am offering a $100 reward! (More for value to me than the actual ring!) No questions asked!

So, please, please pray that this girl has a change of heart and just places it on the desk tomorrow. The manager is having a staff meeting later this week, saying that the police are now involved so it would be better if the ring just "appeared". She said she will then leave the store for 20 minutes and hope it appears in the drawer.

My other question: she is working tonight. Should I go and plead without saying I suspect her? Sort of like, I know you all talk, if you know anything could you just convince anybody to return it?
Answer:

Sending up a prayer that it just appears!
Answer:

I would not approach her she may get scared and not give it back. I would just let the manager handle it and hope that she gives it back if she did take it. I really hope that your ring reappears and that you can get it back.
Answer:

I don't think it could hurt at all to say something to the girl like, "Please pass the word around so if anyone sees it, that they return it. I won't press charges. I'm offering a reward. It has such sentimental meaning," etc... If she did take it, maybe hearing the direct words from your mouth about how devastated you are, might push her to return it. Or, she might not have taken it and she could pass along your plea to the person who did. It can't hurt to talk to her.

I hope you hear some good news soon.
Answer:

I dont know what I would do!! but Prayers said to get your ring back!!

My biggest concern is that if she DID take it, and is having the rough time you said she was, is it possible she pawned it? If she did, you can check the local pawn shops. Here the police do that when something is stolen. It goes into a database and when someone pawns a ring that has the same characteristics it flags it for them to immediately call the police. Do you have a picture of yourself wearing it, so that you can show a picture of it to the pawn shops? I would at least put a call into all within 25-50 mile radius and tell them that the police have made a report. More than likely they will know off the top of their head if someone has brought one in, OR you can go as far as making a list of all the people who where in and out of the gym at the same time and take that and ask if anyone from that list pawned a ring. They may not tell you, but will call the police when you show them the report. Good Luck and prayers lifted!

Yep. I had the joy of going to the three pawn shops in town today. That was a lot of fun. The police did it, too. One was extremely helpful. One was also nice and there was a girl in there with a ring similar, but I don't think it was mine. (She didn't leave it.) The third was a scary, scary place. No windows in the whole place with a big sign on the front about no loaded guns allowed inside!

I also posted a picture, gave the police a picture, etc.

I am not holding out much hope. I went and spoke with her tonight and if she has it, it isn't coming back.

I am having a really, really hard time getting past this.
Answer:

This sucks. I hope someone leaves in the drawer or whatever. Keep us updated. Keep your chin up.
Answer:

OMG how awful! I must have missed the original post, but is it possible a member of the gym (rather than an employee) took it? I guess you've narrowed it down to employees???

That's terrible, and I can't believe someone hasn't anonymously returned it already. You'd think having the police involved would encourage the thief to return it.

The whole ordeal must have you sick, sick, sick to your stomach. I am so sorry!!!

Let us know if you find anything else out...
