It's 5:30 and DD is asleep, should I be worried?

Ask:
DD woke up at the usual time today, about 8:30 or so. We had our usual day, nothing outrageously strenuous or anything. She was so sweet and so happy all day, but kind of subdubed. I kept checking her forehead (she had no fever) and asking her if she felt ok (she would giggle "Yes!" and scamper away). Now it is just 5:30 and I went in to check on her and she is sound, sound to sleep in our bed while the Backyardigans are on. She never sleeps when Pablo is on.

Am I overreacting to think something is wrong or do you think she just might be having a tired day? DH is gone until late tonight so of course I chose this time to turn into a silly, worrying mom. Do you think I should just let her sleep or should I try to wake her up? She is three and hasn't napped in ages. My logical mind says she's tired, let her sleep. The crazy, zany, not-quite-right part of my mind says wake her up, what if she is sick or something.

Please someone talke me down from the ledge.
Answer:

Step away from the ledge...

Okay anyway maybe she's just having a tired day and didn't sleep very good last night. If she didn't have a fever and wasn't complaining of feeling bad I would just let her sleep. Enjoy the quiet time.

Step away from the edge and enjoy the peace! Bryce is sleeping right now too! He is a late napper though... night owl and try as we might we cannot reset his clock. Riley is probably just having a sleepy day! Maybe she is about to have a growth spurt or was restless through the night... who knows, just don't let her sleep too long or you'll be up with Bryce and I at 11:00! I know I enjoy a good pre-dinner snooze myself!

Answer:

Let her sleep - people go thru cycles, and especially w/kids and their growth spurts, she made extra rest.

But do watch her. Our whole family had that nasty gastrointestinal thing going around. It's a virus. Mine went away and came back in a different form. DH had his about 4 days, two were not good. DS had it about 4 days. DD, however, has had it for a week and a half - the Dr. said it runs about 2 weeks, sometimes 4. There were no fevers. Just tiredness, throwing up, diarrhea and dizziness. Not much you can do under the age of three, except keep up the Pedialyte and ensure hydration w/a bland diet. I hope that's not the case, but stuff to look out for. Oh, and it comes w/ a sore tummy - that was the first thing she mentioned when she got it.

Step away from Riley! Do not make me drive over there! Like Desertmom suggested, she may just be hitting a growth spurt and needs a little extra sleep...if it makes you feel better, wake her up in a little while (well now as I see it is already 7:15....where did the day go?!) and see if she is hungry....When it happened a few times with Colin he would just tell me no, and roll back over and then proceed to sleep through the night too! (and this is a kid that goes from 7:30/8 until 11 PM easily!)

my dd who is 5 is going thru a tired phase and wanting naps!! she hasnt napped since she was 12 months old!! maybe its just the change in weather!! Is she outsise more lately!! I know Im more tired and could easisly nap when Ive been in the fresh air more!!
Answer:

Thank you everyone from talking me down. Riley has woken up twice so far for about 5 minutes or so each time. Once wanting some milk, once wanting me to hold her. Still no fever and no other symptoms. We did do a bunch of errands and some planting outside today and it was pretty hot here, so maybe the heat just wore her out.

Again, thanks so much for the support. Sometimes my mommy brain just goes a bit loopy.
