Ask:
I need some feedback. You see, I am a "cat person." However, I was raised as a "dog person," in a household with a dad who came from a "dog worshiping" sort of family.
I'm going to discuss 2 scenes and I'd like your feedback (I'll tell you right now, both scenarios grossed me out!!!!):
Scenario One: My husband and I took our son to a playground last summer--for a picnic--and a few yards away from us there was a playground. Well, sure enough, a family with a dog showed up. We watched in awe as the family coaxed the dog to climb the sliding board & slide down it...and then...dig & frolic in the public sandbox. Now, I do not let my son play in public sandboxes, so it really wasn't an issue...but EWWWWWW!
Scenario Two: My friend told me what she believed to be a sweet antedote the other day...we were discussing the one-year-old daughter of a mutual friend & my friend (a dog lover) told me how cute it was when her dog kept stealing the little girl's building blocks. "She wasn't afraid of [the dog] at all, she'd just toddle over to her & pull them out of her mouth and say 'bad doggie!'" Ewwwwwwwwwwww, dog germs!!!!!
Am I the only one who doesn't want my child to "run with the wolves?"
Answer:
I don't know if it's because I'm a dog lover or not.....but I don't have a problem with either one of those scenarios.
I would love to hear what other people have to say about it.
Answer:
WE have a dog! and well she would hang out by my kids all the time!! If she were to play with theoys of my kids I would wipe them down most of the time!! but it neverbothered me!! The only things that would is the Bathroom functions of hte dog being picked up!!
Answer:
Sorry, both scenarios sound adorable to me, too! But, I am an admitted dog person.
Now, to watch a cat walk across a baby's blanket - YUCK! That will gross me out to no end. Cat litter and cat boxes are just gross, gross, gross! And don't get me started when I see cats walk on the kitchen counters and/or tables! EWWW!
Answer:
I agree it doesn't gross me out either. Now if the dog took a wiz in the sand box that would be an entirely different story.
Now the little girl i watch (one on May 8) will lean over and give my doggy little treats from her tray. I wash her hands immediately and tell my little poodle Captain to go lay down. Sooooooooo i don't like the germ aspect when it comes to the child's hands and face.
Answer:
I don't know, but I teach my DD to NEVER pull things out of a dogs mouth. You just never know which one's gonna bite you- or when.
Answer:
Okay maybe its just me because I have dogs but no those don't bother me. I would like to think I would lysol the blocks but in reality a dogs mouth is pretty clean. Amazingly.
The digging in the sand doesn't bother me really. My big problem with sand boxes and my garden is cats thinking they are a litter box. I too think about cats crawling up on baby beds and counter tops. My aunt has a cat that gets all over the kitchen as does my SIL. I can't stand it. I have nothing against cats but I know my dogs would never be allowed on the baby's things or the kitchen.
Answer:
Neither scenirio bother me either. My kids love throwing the dogs toys while he runs and catches them but I also make them wash their hands when their done. I am a confessed dog lover cats for some reason ewwwww
Answer:
We have Both!! my cat does get on the counters but I get her off!! (I cant tand her on there!! ) then I scrub the counter down!!
Answer:
Oh yes...I should have been clear about being a cat person. Our cat is not allowed to get on our table/countertops (if he does, he's scolded & they're cleaned!!!) We "lock" him upstairs during dinner parties (I hate a dog lying on my feet at the table, so why should I put my guests through a cat rubbing up against them while they try to eat!). We didn't let the cat near our son's stuff when he was an infant--and all of kittie's toys were put away until our son was old enough to learn "hands off!"
I still agree with Lucy...Ew! Dog germs!!!!
