Schedules!

Ask:
We have a weird Schedule, my DH usually gets home anytime between 8pm-10:30pm. I'm interested to see how all of you schedule your day with your kids, is your schedule rigid?? I have a toddler...

Do you ever switch your schedules, what kinds of activities do you do with your toddlers? I get bored at some point in the day.

Do you watch TV or movies with them daily? I usually do a baby einstien and a movie (I try to only watch my Soap during her naptime).
Answer:

no schedule for us--i am, as my sister called me last night, a "free spirited hippy mom"...i should have hair in my pits and a llama or goat in my backyard.

Lol. I love that. Does that work for you? I've always read that toddlers need a schedule, schedule, schedule...
Answer:

My husband gets home between 5 and 11 pm, so he too has a wierd schedule. Sometimes he doesn't see our kids for 3 or 4 days. And then he usually travels at least one weekend a month. Are you asking if you have a specific schedule of activites like 9 am color 10 am movie?? I mean we don't have a real schedule. She gets up anywhere between 7 and 8 ( I value the quiet so I don't get her up before she is ready). She has breakfast on the days she is not on a hunger strike and then I let her run around for a while (which usually means I am busy with the baby and my dd is tearing the crap out of the house). In the am we color, playdough, color, oh did I mention color? We are members of a playgroup so about 1 morning a week we are out with them. She has lunch about 11:30-12 and nap about 1:30 or 2. She usually takes a 2 hour nap and then it is more coloring maybe some stickers and playdough. It is hard to occupy her when I also have to take care of a 6 month old. So some days I am bored too. This probably doesn't help you , but showed me how dull our days are! Interested in the other responses.

I used to have the days very scheduled with my dd last summer. I then tried the home data entry thing and found that I was doing most of the work during the day and she was playing by herself and watching way more tv than I care to admit. Since I am no longer doing the data entry thing I have more time and am trying to get her off of the TV thing but it is harder then I thought it would be. She seems to always want to watch tv So to avoid to much fighting with her becuase she is very stubborn we have come up with what seems to work for us. She gets up around 8 and gets to watch the Playhouse Disney shows until 10. We then will color, or play games, or playdough. We will go to the park or play outside also. Lunch at 12 and then she has rest time at 1. She does not sleep usually but will rest. Lately she has wanted to rest with the tv on but I dont let her. She will go in her bed with some of her books. She usualy comes out around 3 and then we play some more with toys until dh comes home at 4 and then it is pretty much whatever she wants to do at night with limited TV. Sometimes if she has been really crabby during the day I will put a movie on in my room at night and let her watch it so I can have some peace. So far this seems to be working for us.

Meals and naps are also pretty scheduled at our house and everything else revolves around them.

The only structured activity we do is Story Time once a week! I know we watch way too much TV, but I try to make sure that it's as educational as it can be!!

I alwas wondered who schedules the day like Supernanny has it done. I have too much to do on a weekly basis. We usually get up from 7-9 and then we have to leave and go to the shop for 10. We are there until 2 and then home again. Nap time
then dinner
then bed at around 8. I meant we do stuff in between and we always eat three meals but we do not schedule play time cause I do not have any tv or anything at the shop for her to do while I do something else! Well I am gonna try some scheduling soon. HMMMMMM I wish I could schedule a maid in there!!!! HAHA!!! Mayube I could, where to find the extra money.
