Oprah & Howie!

Ask:
I'm so looking forward to Today's episode of Oprah! Howie Mandel will be on and Oprah will participate in Deal or No Deal, Oprah style! I love the variety of topics Oprah has. She can help with world hunger, build schools for children, help women get their foot in the door of success, and have no-brainer days like today for pure entertainment only! Love It!!
Answer:

I almost hate to post this. I will go and hide afterwards but.......

Oprah annoys me lately. She used to seem much more real, for lack of a better word. I remember when she would cry (really cry, not just a good tear up for the camera's sake) and hug and hold hands with her guests. Now its all about what she thinks it important, what causes she thinks you should donate to, what books she thinks you should read, etc.....

I guess if I had a billion plus dollars and a katrillion people hanging on my every word, I suppose I would be kind of smug too. I know many of you will claim that she is always so gracious saying things like, "the best part of having all of this money is to be able to help others," etc.... but sometimes it just seems like she's all about saving the world Oprah style. I can't actually fault her because she does give so much $$$ to so many causes and its her right to use her show as she sees fit. I just used to like her alot more when it wasn't so much about having to save the world on a daily basis.

Sorry if this offends any Oprah fans out there. Its just my .02.

I have noticed that when she cries, she looks right at the camera - she used to look away. I don't even try to watch anymore for many reasons I'm not going to bother with right here, except that only one of them is that I feel she talks down to caucasians and has been too exclusionary. She's just not as interesting anymore - she is now very self-indulgent.

That said, I am still cracking up at Howie Mandel! I don't watch his show, but I love seeing him interviewed. Remember when Jim Carrey used to be funny? It's like that. He must be exhausting to live with - in a good way - from laughing!
Answer:

I watched the program and at first i was so upset that Oprah didn't take the $54,000 deal. I mean come on doesn't she know the value of money to a common person??? I was ticked....and then to only get the $5000.....HOWEVER I FELT HORRIBLE when i realized that the audience member was going to win $100.000 anyway. I had to apologize to Oprah in my head.

Some things do bug me about her HOWEVER i think she does alot of good in this world and she has worked for all she has. Soooooooo she deserves it.
Answer:

Well, I guess the way I look at it is I'd rather watch Oprah than Jerry Springer, and I've actually learned from this woman and some of the guests she's had on. I have never felt pressured to give where Oprah tells me to give. I think she opens up people's eyes to the many many places there are to donate time and money to. I have to be honest, if I had her money, power, status, contacts, etc.. I'd do things MY way too. And if I shared with others where I donate too, who I help, etc...I wouldn't expect them to follow suit. It would merely be a suggestion. While I may not agree with everything Oprah says/does (I don't even agree with everything my best friends say or do), I still like her more than I dislike her and would rather watch a good hour of uplifting, positive, spread the word, pay it forward television than anything else.
