Ask:
On the news there was a picture of a little boy accepting the flag at his father's funeral. His dad was a marine and was killed in Iraq. This picture broke my heart, I started crying. His eyes are filled with tears and he is trying so hard to be brave and not cry. Did anyone else see this little boy?
Answer:
No I didn't but I'm sure I would have cried too... it was always my biggest fear when my 1st husband was in the first Gulf War.
Answer:
I haven't seen the exact picture to which you are referring.
We saw it all too often during the 60's.
I saw it in my brother at our Dad's funeral.
I pray I never see it in someone I personally know
but if it happens let me be there for them in body , mind and friendship
Answer:
yes I saw it on the news!! the pic was soo endeering!! the love he had for his father!!
my eyes were definatley not dry!
Answer:
Yes. What a brave young man. He would have made his father very proud...and I'm sure he's smiling down on him. I was a bawling fool. It's so easy to put your own kids in that scenario, isn't it?
Answer:
I cannot even imagine.
That is my DH's new job... he works military funeral honors, and his job is to go to the funerals, fold the flag and present it to the family member. I do not know how he does it.
