How often do you feel baby move?

Ask:
At 5 months pregnant how often should you feel baby move? I feel my little guy several times a day but, of course I worry. My doctor says every baby is different and if I'm busy I probably just don't notice. I am a bit overweight so could that contribute? I'm sure worrying doesn't do either of us any good. Any thoughts?
Answer:

Please don't worry. I never felt my first son move once in 40 weeks. now with this one I do feel him move. My dr told me that don't start worrying about how much the baby moves until 30 weeks. Now they have me doing "kick" counts every day. They say 10 movements in a 2 hour period is what they want.

I called the dr at one point around 25-28 weeks because I felt nothing all day. Turns out the stinker just decided to not move/sleep for almost 16 hours. they said no problem.

Don't stress yourself out on this one. You have plenty of time until you will need to start keeping regular checks on your little one.
Answer:

Please do not worry. I know it's easier said than done!

I am pregnant with my 2nd daughter (had my 1st in July 2006) and didn't feel this one move until about 24 weeks (I'm now 28 weeks). My dr. said the baby was certainly moving, especially during my ultrasounds, but said I'm so busy with my little one that I probably didn't notice it. It wasn't until she started really kicking & jabbing that I noticed it.

With my first pregnancy, I felt the butterflies around 17/18 weeks so of course I worried this time when I didn't feel it around that time.

Just remember to go with your gut and if things don't feel right to you, don't hesitate to call the dr....that's what they're there for!!

Best of luck to you with the rest of your pregnancy!!!
Answer:

Okay even though people have told me a hundred times and it doesn't help, don't worry.

I feel the baby most every day but somedays I don't. Of course when I'm busy I don't feel anything at this point.

Weight does play a role in how much you can feel. Also the position of the baby matters too. Sometimes the baby just doesn't move or is moving in a way you won't feel it.
Answer:

Mine were all kickers. My first baby had a stage where she wasn't moving much. My dr. said not to worry about it, but if I couldn't help it to drink a glass of really cold water and that would get em wiggling. It worked, and i have used that with every pregnancy since. This baby moves all the time though, ya think warm water would stop him from kicking so much ? lol
Answer:

Both of my babies moved a lot but baby number two seems to be a little spaz and goes all the time! I asked the doctor if this was a sign that he was ADD or something! Dr. said no. He also kicks hard! The other night he was kicking the book that was resting on my stomach! Right now he is wedging his little foot under my ribs. My daughter moved a lot but her's was more a stretching! And if I pushed her little foot back she would haul back and kick me again -- that explains so much of her personality to this day.

If I do go a period of time without feeling him kick I usually just drink a glass of juice and set back and will feel him moving around again! I try not to worry but will admit it can be nerve racking when I don't feel any movement for a period of time!

Thank you all! I feel so much better just being able to talk to someone who's been there or is there!! I'm going to try the cold water trick when I'm having one of my worry sessions. I have to remind myself that he's still not very big even between 5 & 6 months. Soon I'll be writing make him slow down....
