OT- Affordable vehicle that seats 7 & is NOT a minivan???

Ask:
H, I'm posting this for a good friend of mine!
She's looking to buy a newer used vehicle...I guess a smaller suv or crossover type vehicle that has the 3rd row seat so she can seat 7 when needed.
She does NOT want to get a minivan...I guess she's one of those "I hate minivans" people-! I love mine though! Can anyone recommend a vehicle that gets good milage and is on the lower end of the pricing for a 7 seater? TIA!
Answer:

You got me on the 'good gas mileage' part. If there was a 7-passenger car (heck, a six passenger!) that was a mini-van, was low priced AND had good gas mileage, I'd buy it.

Your friend does have a couple of options, though.

The Volvo Cross-Country, I think, has a third row option. I've seen them with a fold-up jump seat in the back. I don't think the seat faces backwards (which I read was now outlawed) but it might. Of course, that's not a very inexpensive car to obtain, even on the used market.

The other option is a crew-cab pick-up truck. You can add a half-cabin in the bed that is actually a seating area. I think the kids have to crawl through the back window to get in there, though. The window is removed when the cabin is installed so it isn't that difficult but it isn't easy either.

Of course, she could get an older suburban but there goes they don't have good gas mileage.

And Saturn (a GM company) makes the Relay that is a 7 seater. They also make the Outlook which seats 8.
Answer:

The Pacifica (Nissan)is great I hear. They come standard with a drop down DVD play and wireless headsets, and ready for internet hook up for a laptop. My SIL loves hers. Seats 7-8.
Answer:

I think the Tahoe or Yukon have seven seats....however i'm not sure they would count as affordable. A used one might be.
Answer:

Acura MDX has three row seats. A bit pricey though
Answer:

Not sure, but I think the Ford Freestyle has seating for 7-8. It's one of those cross-over looking things, kinda mini-van-y, kinda suv-y.
