Anyone dealt with bank/debit card fraud?

Ask:
Has anyone dealt with bank/debit card fraud before? I have to go over to the bank in a little while and file a fraud report. The bank's fraud dept called me at 10:30 Saturday morning on charges from that morning! It's about $600 in charges using my DH's debit card #. He hardly ever uses his card, so we have no idea who or how. The charges are all online! I just feel so violated and angry. My bank says we will get all money back and should anything bounce the fees for that as well, thankfully. This just has me in a tizzy!
Answer:

I had something similar happen to me, but it was with a check book. It IS hard!!!! Hang in there
Answer:

We had that happen to DH's debit card....but we figured out quickly how it happened--he fell for one of those ebay-"verify your information" phishing emails! They took over 1100 from our account in many transactions at ATMs in TRANSILVANIA!! Luckily our credit union replaced all of the funds almost immediately! We just had to bring a signed statement (one per transaction) saying that we had the card on our person and did not authorize the charges and we had our money back in less than 24 hours.
Answer:

Yeah, I've had it happen.

The bank should give you a phone number to report the fraud to the credit reporting agencies. Ask them to put a 'hawk alert' on your account. The hawk alert is supposed to prevent any 'instant credit' accounts from being opened in your name. It will slow down YOU opening any new credit accounts, but is that really a bad thing?

Pull your credit report - and hubby's of course. Then do it again in three months even if you have to pay for it. You want to be on top of any new accounts that might get opened.
Answer:

We had about $600 taken from our account. They traced it back to a gas station where we had used the card. They used our number to withdraw money from the ATM.
Answer:

We just had this happen last week--they got both our debit numbers --probably from a fake ebay or a fake site for Walmart we tryed ordering from. They got about $2300.00 so far! Our cards are canceled--I love to buy online, ebay especially, now I am afraid to. The bank refunded us back all the money so far, I had 3 $8,96 go through this weekend and now I have to drive back over there about 25 miles away and sign more papers --this will be the third time I have been there this week! And gas is so rediculous for the suburban, It makes me so mad!
Answer:

Yeah, I had it happen about a year ago. It was my debit card. I don't know how they got it. I do shop on the net but I thought the places were secure. I guess I know better now.
A lady called me and told me she thought someone had stole my number and tried to use it to book a trip. She had googled my name and got my phone number. I am in NC and the charge was from CA and they did not have my phone number. I checked my account and sure enough there was a charge on there I didn't do. But this lady calling me stopped that transaction and the bank stopped another. So that was a total of 3 charges. It took weeks to get it straightened out.
Answer:

Thanks for the support. I'll get DH to pull his credit report. The bank has been nothing but nice. When you check our account online, you get 2 balances, a current balance and an available balance. It shows the difference between what has "hard posted" and what is awaiting payment. Our available reflects the fraudulent charges, but they haven't really been paid yet as our current balance shows the correct balance. I have to call and follow up with the bank today, and hopefully they will have some info for me.
