Ask:
Has anyone been so sick that they had to go in and get an IV? At what point did you decide to go to the dr or ER? Does anyone know when you should go to the dr?
I flew home from Portland yesterday. We were up early and I wasn't able to get much down for breakfast. The take offs and landings were rough and I felf sick the whole flight. I was able to get down a few peanuts and some sprite. When dh picked me up the ride home was awful. I got home about 2:30pm and I threw up all night. I tried a few things for dinner, but they came back up. I had some jello about 11:30 last night and that stayed down. I have had some jello and saltine crackers this morning, but I am not feeling so hot. I want to just throw up all ready and get it over with.
So I have not had much to eat in 24 hours, when should I go to the dr? Will they give an Iv for dehydration?
Answer:
If you are in doubt, go in or at the very least call them so they know you are feeling bad & can document it. I had home IVs for 3 days with my 2nd pregnancy due to morning sickness. I kept nothing down at all for a few days. The very reason I can't stand the smell of gingerale to this day! Try sipping some Gatorade or Pedialyte or eating some more jello. Hang in there. This too shall pass.
Answer:
Same as above, and be sure to sip, not swig - it'll be easier for your body to absorb without overloading your stressed tummy. And try to drink all day long. If you are unable to keep anything down after 24-48 hrs. I'd call the Dr. Being in the hospital is no fun; in my opinion if you feel so sick you don't care if you're in the hospital or not, call the Dr. 24 hrs. isn't that bad if you were hydrated before that, but if you are feeling dizzy, feel like your BP is going up and can't keep anything down, call. In fact, if in doubt at all, call, but the above symptoms mean you may want to push it a bit harder w/the office staff, as they hear this often.
Answer:
I would drink lots of Gatorade, Vitamin Water, or the like~electrolytes you need without a ton of sugar. I agree to sip it throughout the day, too. I also think there's a shot you can get (B6 or B12?) not too sure, but a friend had two at different times with her second pregnancy. If I recall you've been really sick for a while now, I'd call your Dr. just make sure there isn't anything they can do for you. Good luck, I hope you get relief soon!!

Answer:
I am 9 weeks today. I have been sick for about 3 weeks now. I have good days and bad days though. I will go 3 days feeling great, just tired and then I will have a couple days of throwinig up and not able to eat. Yesterday was the most I have thrown up in one day. That's why I got worried.
I did get my jello and saltines down this morning. And I just sipped a Boost drink that dh bought for me last night. I am starting to feel better. I am achy from laying around. My shoulders and back need a good rub down.
I got a presciption from the dr last week before I flew out of town. I took one last week and I didn't like it. I have such a hard time swallowing any kind of pill. I gagged on it and almost lost the pill.
Answer:
Definitlely take very small sips...I couldn't drink too fast or I would throw up. I was sick for a couple months right at the beginning. It was awful. Try soup and pedialyte like someone else said. I couldn't eat saltines they made my mouth dry and made me feel worse.
I know it sounds dumb but once you can get a little food down you will feel better and be able to eat a little more. I lived on soup and baked potato for a long time.
