Ask:
I have several nice glass jars that have burned down as far as they will go. I don't know how to get all the wax out in order to use them for other things. Does anyone know how? What do you do with your jars....toss them or reuse them?
Answer:
I have reused the old Home Interior glass candle jars with lids for things like cotton balls and qtips for the bathroom. I just set them in a dishpan with super hot water until the wax softens, then scrape it out in one big ball with a spoon or a knife. If you still have a little residue of wax left inside the jar, maybe run it thru the dishwasher upside down?
Answer:
Stick them in the freezer! After a few hours the candle should just pop out of the jar! I have done it a few times when candles have melted down in my votives and it works like a charm every time!
Answer:
The freezer usually works unless the chunk of wax that's left is bigger than the openning of the jar...then ya gotta use the hot water! I usually just run them full of hot water and let them sit a few minutes then scrape out the wax and give it a good wash w/ Dawn to remove any residue.
Answer:
If they are small enough set them on a candle warmer - large ones can sit in an emplty crock pot. The heat is enough to melt the wax. I do this all the time to recycle the jars and candle holders, I prefer to make my own candles.

If that happens, I just take a butter knife and apply a little pressure, it cracks the candle up so that it falls out.
I agree with the Dawn for the residue...it works great!

Thanks, guys!!! I have several pretty jars left..some of them are like canning jars, some are mason jar style, and the Wood Wicks come in hourglass shapes with cool lids, so I really want to be able to use them. I appreciate the tips.

Answer:
If the candle is in a scent that you really love, reuse it. What I do is remove it (as suggested above with either a "warm bath" or freezing it) then place the pieces in a small bowl and float it in the middle of a larger pot filled with hot water on the stove. Heat the water until the wax melts and then simmer! I have special bowls just for this use, and once cooled you can store them in (reused) plastic bags for use another time.
