red nail polish on carpet

Ask:
My 13 month old ds got ahold of my nail polish while I was clipping dd's finger nails. Apparently the lid was not on very tight because he got it off and decided to smear it on the wall and on the carpet as well as all over himself (luckily no where near his mouth). We have the frieze(sp?) carpeting and I am unsure what I should do to try to get it out? Does anyone have any ideas?
Answer:

You may want to call a carpet retailer to see if they have any ideas. We had blue finger nail polish in the middle of our white living room carpet FOREVER because I couldn't get it out. I think DH finally used mineral spirits to clear up most of it when we sold our house. I don't know if there are any after effects though - so I don't know if I would recommend it.

I know I'm not much help Hope you find a solution.
Answer:

This happened to me with purple polish, except I was the one who spilled it.

I used sol u mel

it worked like a charmed. I put it on the polish, scrubbed it a bit to loosen it up, and then put a towel on it. I let the towel set there for a while (I stepped on the towel sporadically to absorb better) It soaked into the towel and then I just washed the towel.

There's a post in the homemade cleaner sticky about this. The woman said she used Windex and it worked great!

good luck!

I second the Solumel! It will remove ANYTHING!
Answer:

My dd and one of her friends spilled purple polish when she was younger. I just used nail polish remover and kept dabbing away and got it all out. Our carpeting is off white/beige so I'm not sure if it would hurt if your carpet is dark, but you might want to at least try it. Worked for me!!
