Bleeding heart ??

Ask:
I believe this is a Bleeding heart plant ( can someone please confirm?)

I need to move it or lose it Has anyone ever moved one? Did you have success? I am afraid that I will kill it moving it now, but I have no choice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!
Answer:

It looks like one to me... I have never moved one. DH has moved lots of stuff on our property so far everything survived... he said you have to make sure you dig up as much of the roots as you can without severing them to close to the plant. WHen you replant make sure you water it well and fertilize, it will need some TLC to recover from the trauma
Answer:

Yes, that's a bleeding heart. Very pretty plant but I wish they'd bloom longer. I don't think it should be a problem moving it as long as you don't ruin the roots to much. So just try to make sure you get as much of the roots as possible and I'd transplant it soon. HTH
Answer:

Yes it is, I grow them all over the garden.. Moveing it wont be a problem, they like lots of sun.
Answer:

I actually 'moved' about 5 of them frommy mom's to MY house! I love my heart they are my favorite plant when they are in full bloom. They are very hearty, and they spread eaisly too.
Answer:

Thanks for advice! This is in a spot that they are gonna need to dig up when they replace our septic. It's from the old homeowners, but I was hoping it would be hearty enough to move to my new garden. Sounds like it will work out

YAY!
Answer:

Yep, it's a bleeding heart. We moved ours at the beginning of Spring & it is doing fine--lots of blooms. You shouldn't have any problems.
Answer:

Yes, it's a bleeding heart. Definitely look for a partial to full shade spot to plant it in though. Be very careful when handling the roots, as they can be extremely brittle.

My MIL actually brought me some ferns earlier this spring, and she had a couple of bleeding hearts mixed in. Plus, I bought another bleeding heart myself. I have it in a shady spot, and they all blooming nicely. Good luck!
