Ask:
I nursed all of mine...most long term, yet every single one had ear infections, multiple times!! My youngest had a nasty one at 2 weeks of age!
Answer:
I am VERY lucky to say that I did not have to deal with ear infections. I am almost positive that Bryan and Brooke NEVER had one. Maybe one...but they are 12 and 15 now so that was a long time ago and my memory is fading....
And Ashlyn....knock on wood....has only been to the pediatrician for WELL VISITS....so no ear infections with her either. Now, I have jinxed myself I am sure....
Answer:
Ds had many ear infections. Most of his were the result of teething. Thankfully he has had only 1 since he turned 2. Dd had a few but near the amount that ds had.
Answer:
All seven of mine!!! I think it is a hereditary thing since both dh and I had lots of problems when we were little (even some as adults!). I had 9 sets of tubes in my 7 kids. I just thought it was part of being a baby!
Answer:
Yes, both my DS's had ear infections, and both had tubes put in their ears by the time they were 2. Never had an ear infection since. My oldest had an ear infection at 3 months. He was teething and had the snotty nose and stuff. The next day he woke up with a fever, so off to the Dr. I noticed some stuff coming out of his ears.........within 24 hrs, he had gotten such bad ear infections, that both ear drums burst. I was in tears adn felt like a horrible mother.
Answer:
My first son had terrible ear infections. DH did some looking into it and found an herbal remedy (he is an herbologist), when we gave that to him he never had one again. We immediately gave it to the twins as I weened them and they have never had an ear infection. Actually, they have never been in to see any kind of MD!
Answer:
My oldest 2 had not ever had ear infections until this year. My youngest has had 2 in the last 3 months and the other 2 have also had them. We had 3 ear infections altogether. I would swear that they are contagious even though I know they aren't. It was not a fun few days at our house.
Answer:
So far both girls have been ear infection free. They both have gotten the Prevnar shot with the other vaccines and I think that really helps. I didn't breast feed either of them.
Answer:
Both my boys were breastfed. My older son had his first and only ear infection at 2 1/2 but it was secondary to another illness. My younger son had his first ear infections at just shy of 4 months but they were secondary to RSV. He is 19 months old now and has been on antibiotics twice since then for ear infections (nothing serious though). All in all I consider myself fortunate that ear infections have essentially been a non-issue for us. Both boys had the Prevnar vaccine which can help prevent some but not all ear infections.
Answer:
I forgot about the Prevnar shot. It wasn't an option for my older four, but both of my younger two did get it!
