Need help with blinds

Ask:
We need to order blinds for our new construction home. I've found an online store were prices are pretty reasonable. We like faux wood white blinds but I'm confused about 2.5 inch or 2 or 3inch & basic or shutter style .

Your suggestion will be very helpful as I'm clueless. Thanks in advance
Answer:

Maybe you should head out to the local Home Depot, Lowes or another do it yourself store to actually see these blinds in person. Do your homework that way. Sometimes the sales persons really know their stuff an can give you hints on what to use.
Get pricing and then maybe order.
You may be better off just buying them from a store rather online. Its easier to return something to a store than online.

I think 2.5, 2 or 3 inch shutter style is the width of the shutters. But Id check it out in a store to be sure.
Answer:

I would think that 2" 2.5" or 3" refers to the width of the slats. Call up the customer service and ask them your questions, they should be able to answer them and if you're still unsure, make sure you completely understand their return policy, just in case!
Answer:

Thanks for replies. Yes u r right 2 2.5 & 3" is the width of each blade. Does it really matter wider or thinner?
I've never had shutter style before so can anyone tell me pros & cons or its just the look?

You really should go look at similar styles in a store...what one person might find attractive, another person might not. I really don't know what 'shutter style' means...that's why I suggested you call the company you're thinking of ordering from, for more specific information.

Good lucK!
Answer:

The size is really preference for the design. A couple of words of warning, as I had researched these a few years ago. The wood blinds keep out the sun's heat better - I live in Arizona, so that was a big deal to me. They are an investment, but were worth it to us.

That said, we put the cloth lookalike vinyl vertical blinds on our patio door - Three Day Blinds (which took 2 weeks to get the product to us) sold us on it, saying we'd hate the cloth ones. We HATE these plastic ones and will go cloth as the kids get older. 7 of the vanes have broken at the top and some have split in the vane. Useless.

The faux blinds can crack and yellow from the sun. If a company claims to guarantee that won't happen, check the fine print on the guarantee and be sure that the company is an established one with a future - a guarantee is only as good as the company that backs it.

We put wood shutters throughout our home, except in the kids' bedrooms, where we put wood blinds - for the same reason - wood lasts longer. We looked into the polyvinyl blinds and shutters, because of all the claims, but none really held water - long term (our blinds/shutters have a 10 year warranty). The insulating factor was a big one for us.

And I agree w/the others - take a look at Home Depot or Lowes first.
