Azalea Question

Ask:
When the Azalea blooms are fading, do you just let them fall off naturally or do you pinch them off like you do with annuals?

Thanks ladies!
Answer:

I usually let mine just fall off.

My Azeleas are OLD, they have been here for years and the bushes are HUGE. But when we moved in, they were very unkept. What I did was trim them up so the middle could catch up with the outside and what a diffrence it has made!!! Do it AFTER the blooms are gone, and before the new buds start growing so you don't accidently cut them off.
Answer:

So prune them in the fall?
Answer:

You can, but I actually do it after the blooms fall off, so ususally in June. I think the new buds start growing right away.
Answer:

Alright, it won't be long then...
Answer:

That is why I don't have azaleas. They bloom and then go away so fast. It makes me sad.

But thier blooms are fantastic!! I have a blood red one that is so GORGY, and a coral colored one that is just TDF. This one gave me lots of problems, but the colors are so worth it.
