Help - we're in a lunch rut!
What types of things do you all have for lunch? Do you plan them out ahead of time (like a meal plan) or do you just wing it?
I find that we're always looking to grab something quick (leftovers, sandwiches, etc.) but seem to be eating the same things over and over. Anyone have some fun, quick and cheap ideas?
Thanks!
Answer:
We do mostly leftovers from dinner for lunch....at least for those of us who eat at home. Otherwise, I might do quesidillas, a bean or bkfst burrito, canned chili w/ crackers, salads, or pasta (I make it with ranch dressing and add veggies).

It is hard to keep lunch interesting and yummy.
We also do leftovers. All kinds of sandwiches (tuna, egg salad, lunchmeat and cheese, PB&J, PB& banana. I also use tortillas for sandwiches in place of bread, sometimes. Sometimes (especially when it is hot and no one really feels like eating) just do cheese and crackers with maybe an apple cut up. My kids like salads a lot, so we do lots of cobb salads. We do the old stand bys of mac and cheese, chef boyardee, etc. My kids like pizza hot pockets, or we make homemade pizzas on bagels. Another thing is we do lots of picnics even if it is just out in the front yard. It seems like a turkey and cheese sandwich tastes better outside. Hope this helps you a little. Have a nice weekend and Happy Mother's Day!!

Thanks for starting this thread! We are in a rut too....spaghetti, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizzas or cheese filled ravioli! Wish we could have leftovers but my DS is only three and he eats like there is no tomorrow. Yesterday he ate 4 adult sized bowls of cereal at 9AM and by noon he was "angry" (hungry).

There is only a few things the kiddos will eat right now. So we are on pb&j sandwich, mac & cheese, chicken nugget, lunch meat wrapped around a slice of cheese, boiled egg, and we have some sort of fruit usually from a can along with.

It's just dd and myself for lunch...we grill quesadillas...we both like salads...we do fruit plates and share a yogurt as dip...grilled cheese, grilled p.butter/jelly(you can buy sand pepperoni at the deli and mozzarella for grilled pizza sand too )...sometimes I make a bag of Lipton noodles or rice and add leftover chicken or 1/2 can tuna(although we do that alot in the winter)
we do alot of wraps too...dd loves anything wrapped in a tortilla...any kind of sandwich you would make can be wrapped in a tortilla.
we nuke chicken nuggets and wrap them w/shredded lettuce, cheese and ranch(like McDonalds snack wraps)
sometimes we just have yogurt/granola in it.
