NBC renews Friday Night Lights
NBC has ended weeks of speculation by granting a second season to Friday Night Lights, the critically acclaimed freshman drama that lagged in the ratings. The show's first season only averaged a 2.3 rating/6 share and 6.1 million viewers overall, but NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly has championed the show as part the network's ''first be best, then be first'' manta. Friday's renewal follows NBC's recent decision to re-up another highly-praised but low-rated show, the Tina Fey/Alec Baldwin comedy 30 Rock. The official announcement on Friday Night Lights will come during NBC's upfront presentation on Monday. The network is expected to order a full 22-episode second season, which may air later than the 8 p.m. slot it had this season. Friday Night Lights is executive produced by Peter Berg, who wrote and directed the movie on which the show was based, as well as Jason Katims, Brian Grazer, David Nevins, and Sarah Aubrey. Kyle Chandler stars as coach Eric Taylor in the show about a small Texas town where high school football is king.
Answer:
YAY!!! Last thing I had heard was it had the possiblilty of cancellation! I'm glad it's going another season....Love Coach Taylor (Have had a thing for Kyle Chandler since he was bomb squad guy in Grey's!) !!!!
Answer:
Woo Hoo!!! DH will be thrilled! We both really got into this show. I think it just needs a little time to catch on. Believe me, after watching football on Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoons, Monday nights and Thursday nights, the last thing in the world I wanted to do was to watch a show about football, but the show just really grows on you. The actual football scenes are not a big part of the show. I definitely recommend it.
Answer:
I heard!!!! Yeah!! Doing the happy dance
Now we've just got to encourage some more people to watch it.
Answer:
I encourage anyone who enjoys football and the behind the scenes look into what high school football is really like in Texas,to read the book " Friday Night Lights" by H.G. Bissinger. I really enjoyed the movie also. I watch the show when i remember that it is on, i really don't watch much t.v. anymore.
Answer:

Yes, I've heard that's one of the theories about why it's not caught on. ...That people think it's just about football. But really football is just the backdrop for the human interest stories (just like law, medicine, police, etc). We've loved it from the first episode.
Answer:
Glad it is not being canceled I really like that show.
Answer:
