That's really sad. I didn't even know what a lock down was, when I was still playing school. I mean, we had tornado drills and stuff, but people didn't just go into schools and threaten people or shoot them up! Makes me scared for my kids.

OMG. They say kids often work out their fears and concerns through play. This could be a good teaching time. It IS a different world. I am debating whether I want my son to ride the bus next year, which would involve walking down to the end of the street to meet the bus - around a curve out of my sight. I could walk him, but not not sure yet...I drive him now. I don't even let him out of my sight in my neighborhood, and we live in a nice area. However, there are always landscapers and other workmen around and people always drive around looking at houses...you just never know.

So True!! my kids can only be outside with in eye view of me!! You just never know!!
This idea of the Lockdown just caught me by surprise today!! I know they do this (and I wont complain since they are just tryint to make sure the kids know what to do!!)

Wow I have not been out of school for even 10 years yet and we never did lockdown drills. I wouldn't have even known what it meant when I was in school. It is so sad how much things change in such a short period of time.

No different than the bomb drills from the cold war. It's no biggie. I'm glad that they are comfortable enough about it to play it. It will also help them remember better at school.
