We also live in a smaller rural community. Robbery and theft, especially bank robbery, is one of the leading crimes here. Apparently criminals think small towns don't have enough policing power to chase down and catch bank robbers. Seriously! Apparently criminals think our police force is all staffed by Barney Fife.

It always freaks me out a little to hear of small town bank robberies because my dad is the courier for our local bank system (he carries money and papers from branch to branch). TWICE he has entered through one door as the robbers exited another! And, he's only been doing this a couple of years. I just hope they never figure out he's the man with the money bags, KWIM?! I told him I'd teach him some karate, but he said he'd probably hurt himself worse trying to learn it than he would if he were caught in a situation where he needed it! Anyways, bank robberies are definitely on the rise around here. And, they seldom catch the guys!

Charlotte is TERRIBLE for robbery, break ins, petty theft, and stealing and breaking into cars. I remember when we moved to North Carolina, I was stunned at the crime statistics and then read further to find out it was mostly theft.
