So what did your kids make at school for mother's day?

Ask:
My 1st grader made a bookmark with his picture on it and a card. My 2nd grader made a little plaque (think Oriental Trading company) and my preschooler planted a flower and made a book mark. My 3rd grader said he does not have time to make projects like that, he has too much WORK to do at school All in all, I did pretty good
Answer:

My DD brought home 3 things on Friday. One was a red folder filled (about 30 pages) full of artwork, photos of her with her best friends at school, two class photos (one with all their school t-shirts on, one without) and a few pages that were "fill in the blanks"...they asked the kids questions, and then wrote in what their answers were. One question that stuck out to me was one about what her favorite toy was! Just the other day I saw this red Barbie car on the floor and thought, "This thing never gets played with. I'm going to put it with the other stuff to go to the thrift store...." Well, she named THAT TOY as her FAVORITE! So, I guess it got saved in the nick of time.

Then there were two "special gifts" (gift wrapped), one for me, and one for DH. Mine was a Mother's Day card made out of a large piece of construction paper, folded over, and on the front it said, "Mom, I love you" and then she had drawn a picture of me. Then on the inside was a "question and answer sheet" where the teacher asked her to fill in the blank. The title at the top was, "What I know about my Mother...", and when Madison was asked my eye and hair color, well...she got BOTH right...Green eyes and GRAY HAIR!! (My hair is highlighted to hide the gray, but apparently it's not working????? Out of the mouths of babes! Right?) One other question was, "My Mom looks best when she...", and Madison said, "Puts on makeup"... I hardly wear any anymore! And my age is...5 and 1/2~~ I wish!! Then, on the opposite page was a picture of her in the middle of a flower she made out of construction paper and this poem at the bottom: "I wrote my name on the sidewalk, But the rain washed it away. I wrote my name on my hand, But the soap washed it away. I wrote my name on a Mother's Day card, And gave it to Mother today...And there it will stay, For Mother never throws ANYTHING of mine away!" (SO true!)

The gift for DH was a painting she did of her and DH with these words at the top, "Dad, I miss you because you go to work sometimes. I really miss you but I know you have a boss. I love you because you take me to the park." Then there was also a sheet with a poem on it about "Girls and thier Dads" with her hand prints in the middle and puzzle pieces glued around the edges.

What treasures to keep forever! (I don't throw ANYTHING away, remember?? )
Answer:

It came in a Chinese food to-go box. It was a glass candle holder paper-mache'd w/different color papers and a nice smelling candle inside. I was just thinking that I need to take a pic of all these presents through the years.

He also made me a paper necklace the other night with a bead at the throat that he'd found.

Very sweet. It's amazing how creative and thoughtful the teachers are!

Answer:

I got a card with a plastic spoon and lump of sugar glued on it..and a poem about how this was all the sugar I would need today because my little boy was going to be sweet enough to sweeten up my whole day!! (from Riley, who is 6) From the younger two, who are in preschool, they both made flower pots. The youngest used her thumbprint to make lady bugs all over a white pot...her teacher filled in with black permanent marker for eyes, dots, etc. The other, my four year old, made a whole outdoor scene with her hands. Her fingers were blades of grass, her thumbs were bugs, her pinky made a caterpillar, her balled up fist side made clouds, etc. It was precious. I have had a whole week of "Happy Mudder's Day"!
Answer:

Karenna painted flower pots in kindergarten, and then they included soil and seeds of their choice (Karenna chose Morning Glory), and the 4th graders didn't do anything. Oh well!!
