$1200 Auto Repairs

Ask:
I have stress....dh's truck needs a new front end, brakes began failing, the wheel almost fell off...thank God no one was hurt! The front end was just replaced last fall, and here we go again!! A baring broke...or something, plus other blah blah blah repairs, grrr!!! So frustrated, can't afford it, going to have to finance it, and there's nothing we can do about it! We are going to fix it, and sell that mother ##$$@@!!!! There, now I feel better having vented!!!
Answer:

I hope you have a reliable, trustworthy mechanic. If you aren't sure, you should get a 2nd opinion! I know it's a pain, but it may be worth it.

I am having same money stresses, I feel for you!!
Answer:

Oooh!!! I feel for you!!! My van is in the shop right now and I am praying hard!!! Our check engine soon light came one, the speedometer stopped working and it would not shift out of 1st gear!!! The mechanic thinks it is all related and pretty minor. As I said I am praying. If it is not minor we will be getting a new (used) van!!! But I don't wanna, this one is paid off next month!
Answer:

I'm hoping DH comes home with good news that he was able to haggle down the cost of repair. We would have to tow it in order to get another estimate, and that would cost us a heap more. DH has delt with this place for many years now, and so far we haven't had a problem with them, but we'll see.....We don't even have enough in emergency savings to cover it. But DH is hoping we'll go ahead and get it fixed, finance what we have to, then put it up for sale, and pay off the repairs with a small portion of the sale. I guess it's just another reminder that while we have goals, these things will pop up whenever they want to, throwing a wrench into our plans!
Answer:

$1200 - ouch! We just sold our car because of that. A young kid paid $350 for it because he had friends who could replace the engine. We found a replacement on craigslist for $1,750. I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there.
