Finally found magazine I like!!

Ask:
I have let my Real Simple subscription go because it just wasn't 'doing it for me' anymore. There are so many ads, besides the fact half the articles seem to be advertising something or other as well!

Anyway, I've been looking for months to find a magazine I can actually read in a month, was family oriented and fun. I finally found "Kiwi" magazine yesterday and its focus is on the organic/natural family & life.

It is small, and there are only 6 issues a year, but I found the articles very 'real life'. For example it talks about saving $ buying organic at the grocery store in the article it is written that not many of us can go 100% organic because of price and helps you set priorities. I felt better about that because we as well can not afford to go 100% organic but they do encourage you to at least go 10% organic.

There are recipes, environment friendly crafts, etc. but like I said it's a small magazine so it isn't totally overwhelming. I'm so happy I found it!!

Thanks for letting us know about this mag. I've not heard of it before, but I will have to check it out! Sounds exactly what I would like. I was getting Organic Style magazine, but they quit printing issues and that was the last mag I read regularly.

Hey! I let my subscription to Real Simple lapse for the exact same reason! It was almost all ads and if it wasn't an ad, it was an article advertising a product or products!

Did you also think it catered to a certain kind of demographic...namely, older women with no or grown children--it wasn't very family-friendly unless you count the "special issue" of Real Simple Family they printed once a year!!
Answer:

I never thought about the 'older' part because at 43 maybe I'm considered 'old' to some (not to me)

But it did seem to 'cater' to the single woman or at least one without kids. And the recipes for kids they did print, please. I loved their 'fake it don't make it' cooking section, but the other recipes Looked so *bland*! Like white fish with white noodles in a white bowl with a few green onion rings floating in it. Yeah, my ds is going to eat that (I wouldn't even eat it or at least make it a little more appealing). I'm not much of a meat eater and they seemed to add a lot of London Broil to the menus as well.

Overall it was halfway decent reading but nothing I can't get at the library or live without. I also tired of their generalizations that manicures, pedicures, personal trainers and 10 hour work days at the office (again no kids in the picture) were the norm rather than the exception. It just didn't fit in with my lifestyle!
