Ask:
I've started planning ds summer vacation and am signing him up for nature classes at the zoo (2 hours a day, 1 day a week for 4 weeks, we're doing 2 months of those) library class where very beginning readers are matched with an older child to help them keep up their reading. These are once a week about 45 minutes each session. I am also hiring our babysitter to watch ds for me one afternoon a week so I can get a break and he can play with her. The rest of the time we'll fill in with friends, parks, etc.
We're going to the Henry Ford Museum in June and to Price Edward Island (dh is from there) in August, so we'll be pretty busy.
What is on tap for you and your kids this summer?
Answer:
We'll do swim team (they swim all year round on swim team), so they'll have morning practices for that. My older son is doing two weeks of sleep away camp. My younger son is still trying to decide if he wants to do some sort of camp or what...time is ticking away on that one! So we'll see what he decides.
Other than that, we'll go out to see my parents in Boston in June, probably hit the beach while we're there. Dh wants to go to South America in early August, not sure if we'll do that or not...my father is very ill (dying of liver cancer). We don't know how much longer he has and I don't want to be so far away. So we'll see.
Other than that...my kids are 9 and 12. They have friends over to play, we go to the pool almost every day, do the zoo and each museum near us at least once over the summer and then impromtu trips for the weekend or just overnight somewhere. We're very casual and spontaneous.
Answer:
Sometime during the summer we'll make a trip to an amusement park 2 hours away.
Youngest has preschool
Oldest has swimming lessons, 3 week long sessions at the Science Station (educational learning experiences-space, dinosaurs, and the human body)
Summer library reading program
Library has a craft/story hour weekly during the summer at a local zoo
I'll have different things planned like: park, bike ride, hike, splash pad, play with friends, color, paint, crafts, reading, study time with flash cards
Answer:
DD (almost 14) is doing a summer volleyball league. Ds (9) is doing tennis lessons and Chineese lessons. Ds (8) is doing tennis lessons. Ds (7) is doing the summer rec program. Ds (4) will be doing tot lot (preschool version of summer rec). They will all be doing the summer reading program at the library. The 3 older boys may also do some 4H one day camps. We will be taking a trip to the zoo, and probably an amusement park this summer.
Answer:
Not too much for me, the baby and the oldest one. The two middle girls I am gonna try to enroll in a playtime at the local park M-Th, 1.5 hrs, for 6 weeks. $20. It's through Com. Ed and I think it will be nice for them. Karenna (my 2nd) needs the run around time, and Lorelei (my 3rd) needs to have the time away from me. She is home all the time, and I would like to start getting her accustomed to being on places where I am not.
Answer:
We have a full and exciting summer planned. Both the 5 & 4 year old are signed up for the same programs. So they have swim lessons every weekday, library program once a week, summer rec. twice a week and they are signed up for tee ball. I am also considering doing tumbling too. Plus will be going to go visit one of their grandmas this summer for a week during which they will go to a vacation bible school while they are there.
Answer:
DD who is 5 1/2 will be going to soccer camp in June for 3 days. Then we are taking a family vacation to Branson, MO for about 4 days. Then dd & ds will be in VBS for a week in June. DD will be taking swimming lessons in June & finishing up playing t-ball. We will be going to Tulsa,Ok for about 4 days for a family reunion. Then improptu trips to see the grandparents & maybe a girl's weekend for me with my bestfriend. That's all I know of so far.
Answer:
We aren't traveling this summer, but we always do alot of day trips to the museums and zoo especially. We always go to the library every week, so that will continue. Julia and Jared are in for swimming lessons already. Julia wants to go to a dance camp and dance classes, Jared wants soccer. I normally only put them in one activity at a time, but since I want them in swimming that one doesn't count so they each pick their own on top of that. Registration starts next week, so I'm going to have them pick this weekend.

That sounds like alot for their ages and alot of driving for you! I would hold off on tumbling until swimming is over, like in the fall! We do tumbling in the fall also!
Answer:
dd and I are doing family dance, other than that it will be driving ds around, he is doing a week of zoo camp, soccer, t-ball, 3 day soccer camp, 4 day lacrosse camp, and tennis. we will also be hopefully doing a lot of swimming, our health club is opening another one near us that is huge and has an outdoor pool.
Ds also gets to go to Disneyland (my parents are taking him for his birthday) and my mom amd I are taking the kids to NY to visit my best friend
